Echoes 7
So much has happened in the month following our internship!! Internship reports, project submissions, viva.at last over. Time to grab popcorns and ice creams and watch a movie in the audi!! Wondering what is going on? . Ok let me make it clear. The movie club of TSM has been renamed as AVEC POPCORN which means we get to munch on snacks while watching movies.. yippeeeeee and what more???? Now ice creams are available at Delite!!! The present set of students is having the time of their life. Now that we have become seniors, we are taking up more responsibilities (LOL! do u seriously believe this?) Elections for the various clubs are going on as I type this. Take a peek inside to know the results!!
Wishing all friends a very happy and fantabulous FRIENDSHIP DAY and for all the brothers out there, be ready. Coz RAKSHA BANDAN is not far away!!!
ADIOS!!!!
I Tweet therefore I am. These words almost scorned me from a childs T shirt during a visit to the nearby mall in Tuticorin, a couple of years back. Social networking sites were gaining popularity and I repelled them simply because I was lazy. But some people consider it important to tweet their views, no matter what. This shows two things-They are not lazy and they love
the controversies.
Take Shashi Tharoor for example. A fine minister he is, his tweets are more popular than his administrative skills. Remember the famous (read ill-fated) cattle class- holy cows controversy? (Be enlightened at
http://www.thehindu.com/news/national/article21179.ece).
Well,
lets
look
at
the
positive side of the story. The controversy was a break from all the turn- off political news on austerity. The young generation who loved Twitter and who smirked politics finally found something in common to talk about (not to mention how media milked the situation). The result? Some more tweets, and a couple of IPL controversies later, Shashi Tharoor quits his job and lands in Trivandrum. He must be a happy and contend man now, thanks to Twitter. I would love to use the word tangy here. Tangy as it may seem, Twitter is more famous for the controversies that revolves it rather than the other opportunities it opens. Some of the other media-catching controversies were the Amir Khan- Chetan Bhagat row over the movie 3 Idiots and Shah Rukh Kahn Vs Shiv Sena soaps. However, Twitter has helped many people to gain new
insights about life. The king of Twitter, Shashi Tharoor has become more
careful of the tweeting business now days. In a leading magazine he admits, Once tweeten, twice shy! Trishna Pratap

Author
: Why we buy
: Paco Underhill
I have heard people saying Shopping is an art but as the tagline of the book Why we buy goes Science of shopping
in India one could really relate his / her own shopping experience to every single line in the book. Though the author intends to define the science of shopping the book is as interesting as any novel as the author tries to portray the psychology of the human mind behind shopping. The Author getting into the shoes of a man, woman and even child and empathizing whilst shopping are amazing. He even says which side a man / women would turn when he / she

EXPLORING TPK..
Seven ages of man, seven days of the week, seven seals, seven phases of moon, seven lamps of architecture and seven dwarfs- in all ages and creeds, the number seven has had a symbolic, mystic character. No less an importance has this mystical number in the world of intellect and philosophy. Greece had seven sages, the Christian Middle Ages seven free arts (grammar, rhetoric, dialectics, arithmetic, geometry, music, astronomy). The (Mohammedan) Sheikh-ul-Islam calls in for every important meeting seven ulemas. In the Middle Ages an oath had to be taken before seven witnesses. The processions around the temples went seven times, and the devotees had to kneel
seven times before uttering a vow. The Mohammedan pilgrims turn around Kaaba seven times, at their arrival.
Why are seven often used in many stories? What is so special about the number seven that J.K. Rowling would include it again and again throughout the series? In the ancient study of numerology, seven represents power and perfection and what not the number still occurs because of it being thought lucky such as the drink 7-Up. There are few theories behind the name 7UP; there were seven ingredients in 7Up. The original 7Up bottle was seven ounces, Mr. Grigg(one who invented 7up) saw a cattle brand that looked like 7 Up, and he liked it enough to name his soda after it. Mr. Grigg named his new soda after a popular card game at the time that was also called 7up and many more to add. What more, the Boeing aeroplanes which are named 7_7. However, why do I speak about this seven on and on all through the page? Guess what Echoes is stepping into its seventh edition with this issue. When seven has made such big celebrity status, Echoes believe that from this edition onwards it will reach new heights not just in standard alone but also in the minds of readers too Rejoice Ur Present-RPD m

Hola friends, in this column we will review and explore how various philosophies and religions around the world can offer us valuable and powerful lessons on corporate strategies, leadership, human resource, staffing, change management, corporate governance, customer service, goal setting, incentives, rewards, politics, self-enhancement and decision making etc.
"If you had been stern and fierce of heart they would have disappeared from around you. So pardon them and ask forgiveness from them and consult them in the conduct of affairs. This beautiful line from the Holy Quran emphasizes up on two aspects: one, that compassionate and sympathetic behavior towards companions and followers, and second, the adoption of participatory approach when dealing with them i.e. consulting them, is the most effective way of
management.
Taoism is an Eastern religion with perhaps 225 million followers.
Rules of Taoist Leadership A leader should be a person of upright moral character. Gathering within himself proper principles of Honesty, integrity, authenticity, balance, perseverance, fortitude, modesty, fairness. A leader should have a clear mission and clearly communicate that mission and carry it out with integrity. The mission or the endeavor
A leader has courage and is brave in the face of danger. A leader steps up to the plate. A leader should be knowledgeable, experienced, and wise. A leader must engender love and loyalty in his people. Those who rule by fear and manipulation and control and exploitation may have gains in the short term, but when it really counts, his people will abandon him when they have a chance.

Kachchatheevu
Kachchatheevu is located between India and Srilanka which covers about 285 acres of land. It was a main fishing area and resting place for the fisherman from Tamilnadu as well as Srilanka. During 1974 the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi dismissed the island as sheer rock with no strategic importance and ceded to lanka in order to develop the relationship between India and Srilanka. The land was ceded to srilanka on certain conditions that those from India can visit the shrine located there without any visa or documents and conduct their traditional rights. Fishermen were generally free to fish even roundabout Kachchatheevu Island for drying their nets... the traditional rights of Indian fishermen and pilgrims to visit the island remain unaffected. The fishermen from Rameshwaram, Pudukottai, Nagapatinam fished around Kachchatheevu for tiger prawns, cutla and tirukkai fish. Due to the rebels attack on Srilankan military the Colombo government declared Kachchatheevu as a no -go zone from September 1993 and finally the band was cancelled after the peace agreement between rebels and Srilankan government were signed around February 2002. But the Srilankan government started arresting Indian fishermen uninformed and jailed them. In order to bring this to an end now our Chief Minister is forcing the Central Government to cancel the treaty. Lets wait and watch whether the Central Government will act immediately or will decide after a few decades.
