Promotion Assessment Process

-Staff Engineer (Quality)

2. Objective
The intent of this document is to describe the criteria followed for the promotion process,
which enables an effective, accountable and transparent framework for managing the
employee promotion based on well-defined criteria.

3. Scope
This process is applicable for colleagues due for promotion to Staff Engineer.

• CQE members

5. Promotion Process
• The eligibility criteria for the assessment:
➢ Total work experience and total ‘on-designation’ experience of 1.5 years (1 year for
colleagues with NAGP certification)
➢ Inputs on readiness for promotion and performance feedback from CARE
• Once the eligibility criteria are met, the candidate will receive a notification from HR for
the online test.
• Online test for Associate Staff Engineer to Staff Engineer:
➢ The test will have 100 questions and need to be attempted in 90 minutes. The test
will cover the following:
- Basics of testing
- Nonfunctional concepts
- Agile concepts
- Test planning and estimation concepts
- Basics of automation
• On successfully clearing the above-mentioned online test, there shall be an assessment
discussion round with CQE members which will NOT focus on any topic that has already
been covered in the online test. The primary focus of face to face discussion will be:
➢ KRAs
➢ Discussion on testing collaterals produced in the project
➢ Communication skills, ability to present
➢ Discussion on people management (if applicable)
➢ Discussion on organization contribution and engagement
• If one is unable to clear the test, then he/she can re-appear for the test after 3 months
only. The number of re-attempts is subject to the discretion of HR.
• If one is unable to clear the assessment discussion, then he/she can re-appear for the
same after working on the suggested improvement areas. There is no limit to the
number of re-attempts.
