Rules of reactivity

CATHODE reduction to element ANODE oxidation to element

SO4- Most reactive - Oxygen is released

OH- Medium reactive - Oxygen is released

Cl- Least reactive

Cathode:

If metal is less reactive than Hydrogen, metal will

be released. [Hydrogen is always released unless
it's Copper].

Anode:

Oxygen is always released unless a Group 7 ion is

present e.g. Cl-, Br- and I-. Then that Group 7 gas
will be released.

If the ionic compound is __________, these are the rules. At the _________, if
metal is _______ reactive than _________, metal will be released. [Hydrogen
is always released unless it's Copper]. However if the metal is more reactive,
then __________ will be released.
At the __________, ________ gas is always released unless a Group 7 ion is
present e.g. Cl-, Br- and I-. Then that Group 7 gas will be released.
