New Choir St Giles Church now has a choir to sing for Sunday morning
services twice a month. If you would like to be part of this initiative, please

Skelton Village Trust Speaker Evening & AGM Thursday April 5th,
7.30pm, Village Hall. Speaker is Historian Gillian Waters. Subject: "Queen
Cartimandua and the Kingdom of the Brigantes; the story of a northern
queen and her dealings with the Roman invaders." This event is open to
all. Free admission by complimentary ticket -includes a buffet supper and
glass of wine/soft drink - obtainable mid-March onwards from committee
members or the village shop
St Giles’ Church has a special Memory Book in church. A beautiful,
purpose-made, ring binder which has been donated to the church. If you
would like a page inserted to remember a loved one we will be pleased to

Skelton Walking Group. For information about the walk on Saturday

Mobile Library in Skelton. The Mobile Library visits Skelton every two
weeks. As well as borrowing books & audio books, you can update your
library card or York Card, return books from any other York library, &
request books to be brought to Skelton for you to borrow. The library stops
in Fairfields Drive from 2.40pm to 3.10pm and Brecksfield from 3.15pm to
3.50pm (Note new times). Mondays March 12th and 26th. For more

Skelton Primary School are seeking someone with a financial
background to become a volunteer Governor at our wonderful, small,
village primary school. The individual will work with our existing Governors
and Headteacher and will be able to bring their financial experience to the
role, offering advice and guidance on a range of school related issues. If

SHIPTON WITH OVERTON NEWS
Thank you to everybody who supported the ‘European Towns & Cities Quiz’
by either buying or selling them, or by kindly giving a donation. Following a
draw to choose the winner, the quiz was won by Sarah Watts from
Woodthorpe, York. Particular thanks to the Dawnay Arms, Shipton; Brooke’s;
Skelton Post Office; Linton stores & to Alan Easterbrook who all helped sell
quizzes. In total £471 was raised for Shipton Church funds. Thank you
Shipton—by—Beningbrough Playground Committee would like to thank
everyone who helped and who donated items for the Jumble sale. We raised
£635 towards the playground fund which will be going towards replacement
equipment that is required. The items that we didn’t sell went to the YMCA so
there was nothing wasted. Well done everyone!
Shipton Community Café welcomes customers old and new to Shipton
Community Centre every Tuesday, 2pm until 4.30pm. Tea, coffee, homemade
cakes and scones. Children's activities. We look forward to seeing you
