Notice from Debbie Windsor, Skelton Shop and Post Office. By now
you all know I have left the shop and Post Office and would like you to
welcome the new owners Josh and Geeta and their helper, Colin.
I would like to say that during my 5 years I have met some wonderful
people and made many friends. The laughs never stopped coming and I
had a great working experience. I am sad to leave you behind and am
more than touched and humbled by the lovely things that have been said
to me during my last weeks along with the cards and gifts. I feel truly lucky
to have known you lovely people of Skelton. Thank you for your kindness.

Coffee, chat and books Skelton Village Hall, Wednesday September 6th,

Skelton Gardening Club, Thursday September 21st, 7.30pm, Village Hall.
“More of the Same” speaker Jean Hawkins (Club member). Annual
membership subscription of £10 due at the September meeting. New

Skelton Walking Group Saturday September 2nd. Meet at the village
green at 9.30am & bring refreshments for a coffee stop & a picnic lunch for
a 6.5 mile walk from Dallowgill, following the “Mosaic Trail”, created by the

St. Giles’ Church Gift Day will be held on Saturday September 9th. Rev.
Malcolm and the PCC will be in church between 10 and 12.00. We look

Harvest Service and Supper Friday October 6th. Service 6.30pm in
Church, followed by a 2 course meal and entertainment in the Village Hall.

Macmillan Coffee Morning for the World's Biggest Coffee Morning in
Skelton Village Hall on Friday September 29th from 10am-12noon. We will
be having a cake stall, raffle and bric-a-brac stall
Thank You. I would like express my thanks for the support shown in many
ways to me during the very sad illness of Michael and his passing. His
passing was very difficult and he fought a battle to the very end which
makes me so proud to have been his Mum. Thank you all. Sheila Huggins
Blacksmith’s Arms, Skelton. Traditional Sunday Lunch served 12-3pm
every Sunday. Quiz Night every Thursday evening from 8.00pm. £1 per
person and a prize for the winning team. Also Knit, Stitch and Natter every

Mobile Library in Skelton. The Mobile Library visits Skelton every two weeks.
As well as borrowing books & audio books, you can update your library card or
York Card, return books from any other York library, & request books to be
brought to Skelton for you to borrow. The library stops in Fairfields Drive from
2.00pm to 2.45pm & Brecksfield from 2.50pm to 4.00pm. Mondays September

SHIPTON WITH OVERTON NEWS
If you would like to contribute to the running of Holy Evangelists' Church,
whether you attend regularly or not, we now have Bank Standing Order forms
available to enable you to do so. Simply pick up a form from church or from
Rev. Trevor. Thank you for the continued support of your parish church.
Thank you for everyone who has supported the Shipton Preschool d
Toddlers group over the years. July 21st was the end of an era when we
closed the doors at the Community Centre. On behalf of the preschool &
committee I would like to thank firstly all the staff & committee members & a
special thanks to Alan Theakstone, Paul Theakstone, Dave Norville, Josh
Jordan & Hughes Removals for all the help removing furniture & equipment &
helping clean up the garden From September 11th, we will have a new home
with some exciting times ahead when we move to the Forest of Galtres Primary
School. Our opening hours will be Monday - Friday 9.15am—3.15pm. Tuesday
will remain the Toddler group 9.30am -11.30am
Shipton Space has moved! The village community cafe, cinema and youth
club, will all take place at Shipton Community Centre from September. All your
old friends & hopefully some new! Please lookout for individual notices
Shipton Community Cafe looks forward to welcoming customers old and
new to Shipton Community Centre every Tuesday, 2pm until 4.30pm. Tea,
coffee, homemade cakes and scones. Children's activities. We look

Shipton Chill Zone Youth Club New Dates & Venues, For young people
from the surrounding villages in school years 6 to 9. Runs fortnightly on a
Thursday 19:00-20:30. September 7th—Skelton Village Hall, September
21st—Newton Village Hall. £1.50 entry, includes drink & a snack. Lots of
great activities: table tennis, table football, pool, fun games and a tuck shop

Forest of Galtres Primary School Plans for our Foundation Stage provision
for 3 and 4 year olds are coming together & from September 2017 we are
expecting to admit 3 year olds to school. This means we will be able to offer
the full 30 funded hours for parents in the area including before & after-school
care from 8am to 5:30pm. Sessions can also be mixed across different
providers if families wish. To find out more, please contact the school.

Roof Project Update the builders have almost finished their work on the
church and we’re delighted to be able to hold services at All Saints once more.
Our final exhibition as part of this project is expected to run from Sep 25th to
