Dr. Ajay Ranka, the Chairman & MD of the Zydex

Group, a Ph.D in Polymer Science & Engineering,
USA, started his career with PPG Industries, USA.
He founded Zydex in 1997 as a Textile Chemicals
Company with the philosophy of innovating for
sustainability to conserve & extend the life of
limiting resources. Taking his vision forward, Zydex
has delivered 200+ innovative and world-class
products & solutions. This contributed to Zydex’s
growth story and subsequent establishment of
the Roads, Agriculture, Waterproofing and Paints Dr. Ajay Ranka
Chairman & MD, Zydex Group
Divisions. With a growing workforce of 800+
employees, Zydex has risen to become a global player with footprints in over 40
countries, where significant players & institutions have adopted our technologies.

PRODUCT PROFILE
ANTI-STRIPPING & WARM MIX ASPHALT

Anti-Stripping: ZycoTherm range is a revolutionary high performance anti-stripping additive for asphalt
mixes that, unlike conventional anti-stripping additives, bonds chemically with aggregates creating a lifelong
seamless membrane. It enables 100% coating and wetting, imparts superior anti-stripping properties and
results in improved moisture resistance of the pavement, at one-tenth the dosage of conventional additives.
ZycoTherm-AS can be used to prevent the anti-stripping of aggregates and bitumen by providing improved
bonding and improved stability. Even though the ZycoTherm range is an anti-strip additive for asphalt mixes, it
also offers other related benefits including utilizing the locally available aggregates and optimizing the binder
content, thereby saving costs and aiding in the easy compaction of the mix.

Warm Mix Asphalt is one of the preferred alternatives for paving as it is more environment friendly than hot
mix asphalt, but with virtually identical results. Increased haul distances from the plant to the site makes it
difficult to pave with its reduced workability due to reduction in temperatures over haul time. We offer asphalt
additives to our clients for improved coating efficiency, anti-stripping properties, oxidation resistance, fatigue
resistance and enabling lower temperature of compaction (up to 40°C lower). We specialize in warm mix
asphalt additives, which deliver better pavements, thereby reducing the fumes, preserving the environment
and health of the people involved

ZycoTherm-AS
A chemically reactive & odor - free anti-stripping technology that forms a permanent chemical bond between
aggregate and bitumen. ZycoTherm-AS is compatible with all aggregate types and performs especially well
with problematic aggregates such as quartzites & granites.

ZycoTherm (Pumpable up to 10°C to 15°C)

ZycoTherm is a next generation anti-strip additive with the additional benefit of warm mix asphalt (WMA). It is
compatible with all aggregate types and allows for improved adhesion of bitumen to aggregate at
significantly lower dosage rates compared to conventional anti-strips. ZycoTherm enables temperature
reduction up to 60oF (30oC lower) during mix production and field compaction, and has benefits of chemical
bonding, complete coating and consistent compaction.

ZycoTherm-SP (Pumpable up to -5°C to 0°C)

ZycoTherm-SP is a next generation anti-strip additive with the additional benefit of warm mix asphalt (WMA).
It is compatible with all aggregate types and allows for improved adhesion of bitumen to aggregate at
significantly lower dosage rates compared to conventional anti-strips. ZycoTherm-SP enables temperature
reduction up to 60oF (30oC) lower during mix production and field compaction, and has benefits of chemical
bonding, complete coating and consistent compaction.

PRODUCT PROFILE
TACK COAT | MICROSURFACING | SLURRY SEAL | CHIP SEAL

Tack Coat: Nanotac formulated with cationic bitumen emulsion CSS-1 or CSS-1H shows reduced clogging of
nozzles, improved spray, faster setting and excellent bond strength above 1.4 Mpa. Unlike, other additives for
tack coat, it also largely reduces tire pick up resulting in a trackless tack asphalt surface. The additive for tack
coat that we offer, possesses excellent bond strength & imparts water resistance to the mixes, thus saving the
time required for micro surfacing. Inadequate bonding may cause delamination followed by longitudinal
wheel path cracking, fatigue cracking, potholes and other distresses that reduce pavement life. Care should
be taken before applying the tack coat materials because improper cleaning of the surface may cause the tack
coat materials to bond with the dust and dirt rather than the adjacent layer. This results in excessive tracking of
the tack coat materials.

Microsurfacing: Cationic emulsion CSS-1 or CSS-1H can be modified with Zydex micro surfacing asphalt
additives that can be added in to the water tank, during the mix preparation in order to extend the life of the
pavement. NanoTac offers excellent bond strength & delivers water resistant mixes for microsurfacing. These
additives impart rapid setting to the bitumen emulsion, saving the time required for micro surfacing asphalt
paving with reduced stickiness on the equipment surfaces. It improves the flow as well as the spray quality of
the bitumen emulsion used for micro surfacing along with a substantial increase in the bond strength.

Slurry Seal: Addition of Nanotac to cationic bitumen emulsion of CSS-1, which is later used as a slurry seal for
surfacing, will help improve WTAT readings and add to structural strength. This allows quick strength
development. NanoTac also offers excellent bond strength & delivers water resistant asphalt slurry seal mixes
for surfacing.

It improves the flow as well as the spray quality of the bitumen used for slurry seal along with a substantial
increase in the bond strength. The setting time is reduced considerably with the addition of NanoTac, up to 15
to 30 minutes with substantial reduction in tacking. This also reduces the slippage of the surface. The slurry
seal for resurfacing, mixed with NaoTac allows uniform load transfer due to a better bonding.

Chip Seal: The cationic bitumen emulsion can be modified with Nanotac to be used as a chip seal emulsion
which will improve bonding to the base and to the stone chips. It gives improved strength to the bitumen film.
It also makes the surface dressing waterproof. The setting time required by the chip seal is reduced
considerably with the addition of NanoTac and it also reduces the slippage of the surface dressing. The
addition of Zydex technology to the chip seal provides a better binding of the chips to the base along with a
substantial increase in the bond strength.

NanoTac
NanoTac is cationic bitumen emulsion additive that creates a permanent chemical bond between the
bitumen emulsion and the underlying surface. Due to the formation of a permanent chemical bond, the tack
coat is resistant to tracking, has very high bond strengths and can be used at lower residual bitumen contents

PRIME COAT

TerraPrime
Terraprime is an additive for prime coat emulsion that when formulated with CSS-1 or CSS-1H, improves
penetration, surface coverage and setting. TerraPrime is an additive for prime coat which we offer, possesses
excellent bond strength & imparts water resistance to the surface. One of the major functions of the prime
coat emulsion is to bond the asphalt mixture to the surface of the base. TerraPrime added to the prime coat
emulsion improves the spreading and the spray quality of the emulsion to give uniform spray and coverage.
This additive for prime coat emulsion also makes the prime coat penetrative and waterproof.

TerraPrime is a cationic bitumen emulsion additive which enables it to be deeply penetrative prime coat that
is track resistant and waterproof. TerraPrime forms a permanent chemical bond between the prime coat and
soil base, thereby enabling high bond strengths, track resistance and lower residual bitumen contents.

DUST CONTROL

ZycoBond-DS
Dust dispersion poses a number of problems be it the visibility issues, health problems or deterioration of the
quality of roads. We offer an innovative and cost effective solution for this problem, in the form of dust control
spray for roads regardless of the type of the surface. Our technology, ZycoBond is very effective in soil erosion
control by creating a hard, dust - free surface. ZycoBond is a highly stable acrylic binder having excellent bond
strength and is extremely water-resistant. It can mitigate up to 95-98% of the dust on roads, helipads, open
grounds, etc. ZycoBond also facilitates strong bonding between the particles of the soil.

ZycoBond-DS is a UV stable dust control pallative that can offer long - term dust control to unpaved sites such
as gravel roads, county roads, open pit mines and industrial construction sites. ZycoBond-DS is designed to be
spray applied via simple dilution in water, and functions to capture dust and waterproof the sprayed surface
simultaneously.

SOIL STABILIZATION | WATERPROOFING OF SOIL BASES

Soil Stabilization solutions offered by Zydex, include Terrasil and ZycoBond, which together improve the
maximum dry density (MDD), reduce water permeability, increase resilient modulus and improve flexibility in
the soil bases. This technology also complements conventional soil additives like cement and lime by
eliminating the degradation of the cementatious bonds hence, increasing durability.

We offer an innovative solution to improve the strength (CBR) and stability of the locally available soils, thus
offering a cost effective method for soil stabilization. Our technology imparts soil waterproofing to all the soil
layers and also prevents water ingress and capillary action into the road bases, successfully eliminating water-
induced pavement damage.

Waterproofing of Soil Bases: Zydex has developed revolutionary technologies in the form of waterproofing
chemicals for soil. Due to a reduction in the water seepage, the soil bases can be compacted better and they
act as structural layers to offer better strength and durability for the pavements. Terrasil and Zycobond
solutions when sprayed, offer waterproofing of basement clay soil. The permeability is reduced to 10-7 – 10-8
cm/sec. Soil waterproofing chemicals offered by Zydex, stop the capillary rise along with making the soil base
impermeable to water from the top surface. This ensures higher and improved field dry density of the base
soil, leading to an increased strength and stability.

TerraSil
Moisture damage is the leading cause of failure for soil sub layers and dirt/gravel roads. Infiltration of water can
cause the soil to expand and loose cohesion, leading to ruts, corrugations, cracks and ravelling. TerraSil is an
easy to apply soil modifier that permanently eliminates infiltration of water into soils. Making soil bases/dirt
roads impervious to water has a significant impact on overall life cycle costs.

TerraSil+
TerraSil+ is a reactive soil modifier that dramatically improves the CBR and swelling characteristics of soil sub-
grades. Designed to be introduced through the water of compaction, TerraSil+ works at extremely low
dosages and enables economic upgradation of subgrade soils. The technology can also be used in
conjunction with conventional stabilization methodologies, such as cement and lime for dramatic
improvements in the load bearing capacity of the subgrades.
