Coffee, Chat and Books. This will restart on Wednesday February 3rd
from 10 to 11.30am. All welcome in Skelton Village Hall.
NB the church service on the Third Sunday of the month will start at
10.30am for a trial period of 3 months.
New Year Resolution to take more exercise? The answer is on your
doorstep. Come walking with the Skelton Walking Group. Walks are
arranged every month –on a Saturday – and vary from 5 to 7 miles.
Everyone is most welcome. The next walk is on January 9th and is an
easy 5 mile walk around the Skipwith Common nature reserve. Meet on
The Green at 9.30 to share transport. Bring a flask for a coffee break. Pub

Skelton Village Trust Speaker Evening Thursday February 4th at
7.30pm in the Village Hall. "A Gateway to History: the new York Explore
Archives and Local History Service". A presentation by Laura Yeoman
from the York City Archives. Tickets £5 to include a buffet supper and
glass of wine/soft drink will be available from committee members and the
village shop from mid-January
Yoga Class. Starts on January 7th for an 11 week course to March 24th
(NB not on February 18th, half term), Thursday afternoons, 1.30 - 3.00pm.

Open level Yoga classes Skelton Village Hall, Mondays, 6.30-7.30pm,
suitable for beginners to more advanced practitioners. Free yoga class for

Police Surgery for Skelton Ward Wednesday January 6th, from 6pm in
the Mobile Police Office (VW Transporter) which will be parked outside the
Village Hall. Residents are invited to come along and talk to our Safer
Neighbourhood Officer, PCSO Grace Silvester about any issues.
Mobile Library in Skelton. The Mobile Library visits Skelton every two
weeks. As well as borrowing books & audio books, you can update your
library card or York Card, return books from any other York library, &
request books to be brought to Skelton for you to borrow. The library stops
in Fairfields Drive from 2.00pm to 2.45pm & Brecksfield from 2.50pm to

Shipton Community Cafe - every Tuesday at Shipton Space, The
Methodist Chapel, 2pm until 4.30pm. Refreshments, homemade cakes,
fresh produce, tuck shop, gifts and cards. All ages welcome
Shipton By Beningbrough Playground Committee raised £476.60 at St
Crux in December towards the playground. A lot of hard work put in from
lots of people in the community, so a big thank you to you all! Thank you
to the people who donated items and baked items to sell on the day.
If you would like to join the Playground Committee and donate a bit of
time to help our community, please get in touch with Peter Chapman,
Chairman tel 471903 or Dawn Malloy tel 470749. We desperately need
people to join the committee!
Residents of Shipton will agree it is a lovely place to live &, as we walk
around the village, we have noted there has been an influx of dog walkers
& dogs, whether they are new residents to the village (welcome) or new
dog owners (congratulations). However, it appears that one or two dogs
have failed to teach their masters to clear up after them! We are all aware
of the danger to health dog faeces can be, in particular to young children.
Also during the wet and dark winter weather it is not pleasant to find that
you have stood in such & then proceeded to tread it into the house. So
please a polite request ‘take pride & care in the local environment’ & help
continue to make Shipton a lovely place for everyone to live, Thank you in

Newton on Ouse Parish Hall 100 Club prize draw took place on
November 27th (a day or two early this month) and the lucky winners were
Paulette Wright (£30), Barry Dawson (£15) and Sheila Southwell (£15).
Congratulations to all! It is not too late to join the 100 Club – contact

Newton Walkers - the programme for 2016 will be posted on the village
website before Christmas. We meet once a month to enjoy walks of about
five or six miles. Details from Alan on 848095 or Tim on 844036.
All Saints Church, Newton, now has a Facebook page, where you’ll find
details of exciting upcoming events as well as photos of weddings,
baptisms, etc. Please feel free to post a message there. You can find us
on Facebook at allsaintsnewton - looking forward to meeting you there!
Members of the PCC would like to thank everyone who has either hosted
the Coffee Mornings or decorated the Church for the Festivals or helped
with the Church cleaning, we are extremely grateful for everyone's help.
There are always gaps if anyone would like to help in any way
The next Coffee Morning will be held on Saturday January 9th at
10.30am at Reuse Cottage, the home of Mrs Teresa Ibbotson, with the
usual stalls
Two Appointments required - Due to retirement of both the Treasurer
and Secretary of the Parish Hall we are looking for volunteers to fill these

The Christmas Fayre at Newton raised £968 to be shared by The Parish
Hall and Playing Field. It was a lively Event and well supported. Thanks to
