Instructions:

1. Read the task carefully before be attempting

2. Direct all question to the instructor

TASK:

1. Trainees are required to fit the correct PPE and select the correct tools/equipment,
needed to complete the tasks below.
2. Trainees are required to prepare two (2) pieces of ½” plates measuring 2x6, and weld
in the vertical position using manual metal arc welding process (MMAW).
3. Trainees are required to TIG weld two (2) pieces of Aluminium plate 2”x 6” lap joint
in the flat position
4. Trainees are required to MIG weld two (2) pieces of mild steel plate 2”x 6” T joint in
the horizontal position.

During assessment individuals will:


• Demonstrate safe working practices at all times
• Demonstrate the ability to perform manual arc and/or gas metal arc welding in the flat,
horizontal and vertical position and to specifications
• Demonstrate correct procedures in setting up and shutting down manual arc welding
equipment
• Communicate information about tasks being undertaken to ensure a safe and efficient
working
environment
• Take responsibility for the quality of their own work
• Perform all tasks in accordance with standard operating procedures
• Perform all tasks to specification
• Use accepted engineering techniques, practices, processes and workplace procedures
