Lesson Plan

Class: Nine Subject: Computer Science Total time: 3 hrs


Topic: Introduction to computer and its application areas Theme (if any):
Major Learning Outcomes:
 Students will develop the concept that every information given to the computer are in
the form of electric pluses.
 Students will outline the basic concept of computer and its features.
 Students will also relate the application of computers in day to day life.
Materials Required:
 Video for reference ( Computer using 0 and 1 for data representation)
 Internet and Computer
 PowerPoint Slides
 Loose sheets
Handouts and text support
 PDF format of slides will be uploaded in School App
Sequential outline of classroom activities
DAY 1
Engagement: Time: 30 mins
 Teacher will start class by doing warm up activity (5 mins) (Simple stretch and
meditation)
 Teacher will distribute loose sheets and ask them to note down the point that they find
in the video.
 Teacher will show the video (10 mins)
 Teacher will give extra time to discuss about the video. (10 mins)
Exploration: Time: 30 mins
 Teacher will divide students group wise and ask them to discuss about the video
shown. (10 mins)
 Teacher will ask them to discuss about the future computer, what it will look like and
what concept will be used in it. (10 mins)

DAY 2
Explanation I: Time: 60 mins
 Teacher will select random 5 students and let them share about the research they have
done about the future computer (Quantum Computers).( 10 mins)
 Teacher will make use of slide to outline the concept of digital computer and the
future computer. (30 mins)
 Teacher will ask random students questions such as: (10 mins)
o What will you do if someone given you a laptop without memory?
o Say any 2 reasons that why computer is so popular now a days?
 Teacher will show slide and make them clear about the computer and its
characteristics. (10 mins)
DAY 3:
Explanation II: Time: 60 mins
 Teacher will select random 5 students and let them share about the computer and their
characteristics. (5 mins)
 Teacher will ask students to think few disadvantages of a computer. (5 mins)
 Teacher will select any 5 students randomly and ask them to put their opinion. (5
mins)
 Teacher will show a video regarding advantages and disadvantages of computer. (10
mins)
 Teacher will explain and relate their answers. (10 mins)
 Teacher will discuss with students about the working principle of a computer and
emerging application areas of a computers .( 20)

DAY4:
Elaboration: Time: 20 mins
 Teacher will ask students to image any one profession that they want to become in
future. And ask them to think and write for what purpose they will be using computer
in that profession. (10 mins)
 Teacher will pick any 5 students randomly and let them share. (10 mins)

Evaluation: Time: 20 mins


 Teacher will ask student different questions to evaluate their understanding about the
topics.
 Students will be assigned with the exercise given in the text book.
