What it feels like
to be a

You, as your name implies, are driven by an internal fire, a deep

craving to create, transform, and shake things up.

Firestarters are true visionaries.

You have a natural tendency to question “the way things are.” You feel stifled
by rules and have a hard time committing to a project or assignment unless
you’re fully bought in to the mission and purpose (which can make it hard to
feel satisfied working for other people).

You thrive in environments that encourage innovation, unbounded creativity,

and rapid evolution. You like to color outside the lines.

You probably have a bit of a rebellious streak.

Where others see challenges and lack, you see opportunity, which makes
you a natural leader. You can’t help but wonder, “How can I make this better/
faster/easier/more exciting?” If you’re not yet an entrepreneur, you might feel
the itch to create a business — maybe even a movement or a mini-revolution
— that’s aligned with your vision and feeds your passion.

Ideally, your career and your passion will merge together and be one and the
same. You get a thrill when thinking about YOU being the sole owner, creator,
and director of your time and life. You know it will be a challenge, but...

Doing anything else would

feel like settling.

How Firestarters value the big 3:
Time, Money, & Passion

Time
Because Firestarters value autonomy and freedom so much, they need to be more in
control of how they direct their time than any other Profile. When they feel like other
people are in charge of their time, they quickly become resentful and that’s when their
rebellious side will emerge.

When Firestarters are fully in control of how they use their time, though, they don’t
mind putting in the extra hours. That’s why so many Firestarters are attracted to
entrepreneurship (although some prefer intrapreneurship — taking the lead on a big
project or initiative within an organization).

Money
For Firestarters, it’s a non-negotiable to combine their work (as in, the way they make
money) with something they’re passionate about. Their work can’t be just “a job” to
them — they need it to align with their bigger life mission. They’ll also never be happy
relegating their passions to hobbies or side projects.

Just like with time, Firestarters can easily slip into resentment when other people have
control over their income. They don’t like when anyone (a boss, an employer, etc.) tries
to control how they make money and how much they can earn. It’s highly motivating to a
Firestarter to see their income reflect their effort.

Passion
When Firestarters have a deep passion for their work, they feel lit up, inspired, creative,
and fulfilled. They can become rock stars in their chosen field because they’ll pour their
heart and soul into their work. But with high highs come low lows. If a Firestarter isn’t
feeling passionate...watch out. They’ll quickly become disengaged, resentful, restless,
and rebellious.

Firestarters are natural idea generators with a strong desire to create. Being an influencer,
a thought leader, or someone whose original work impacts other people is really exciting
and motivating to them. You’ll find a lot of Firestarters running companies, leading
movements, or building communities because they’re good at holding a vision and
inspiring others to join in it.

What to do now

You'll be happiest in a career that allows you to...

Be your own boss Be a leader
Work on projects that light you up Have limitless income potential
Feel aligned with the bigger mission Make a positive impact on others
Direct your time and energy Bring your vision to life
Innovate Continuously keep learning & growing

Create a solid & realistic plan

Being a visionary in awesome, but vision alone isn’t enough. In order to make the massive
impact you want to make, you’ll need to break your big idea down into clear,
realistic steps.

When a new idea strikes, we know you want to jump in right away with two feet. But taking
a little time in the beginning to build out a well-organized and thorough plan of attack
will actually save you time in the long run, not to mention make you more likely to get the
results you want. (Being a visionary is less fun when you’re broke, you know?)

Learn from others

You want to forge your own path — we get that. But it doesn’t mean you have to totally
reinvent the wheel! Your dream is not a puzzle you should feel obligated to solve totally
on your own. You can make faster progress if you’re willing to learn from others who have
taken a similar path.

Challenge yourself to talk to a few people you admire who have “been there, done that.”
See what nuggets of wisdom you can glean from their story (but don’t be afraid to leave
some of their advice behind if it doesn’t resonate with you).

If you can’t think of anyone you already know to reach out to, look beyond your circle of
contacts — seek out stories of total strangers on blogs, social media, podcasts, etc., to
find people with careers and/or businesses that inspire you. And if you’re feeling really
bold, send them a short note asking for a few minutes to connect!

CLARITY ON FIRE / T H E PA S S I O N P R O F I L E Q U I Z
Fully disconnect during your downtime
Once you’re fired up about an idea, you’re usually happy to pour a ton of your time, energy,
and resources into it. But remember that you’re no good to anyone when you’re frayed and
burnt out. The vision, unlike a baby, won’t die if you leave it alone for one night. And you’ll
come back refreshed and reenergized if you take regular breaks from working on it.

Delegate
Letting go of control isn’t always the easiest thing for a Firestarter, we know. But if you’re
trying to do everything all on your own, you’ll quickly end up limiting how much progress you
can really make. The very best Firestarters (think Oprah) know how important it is to leverage
the time and effort of other people to get things done.

Think about your areas of brilliance — that’s where we want to devote most of your time and
energy. Which means offloading some of the tasks that steal your attention from those things.
List 3 things you’d be willing to delegate to someone else (admin work, scheduling, meal prep,
house cleaning, project management, hiring, etc.) to get back hours of your valuable time.

Pick an idea and stick with it (for now)

You’ve got a deep well of creativity and plenty of ideas, which is wonderful! But it can quickly
lead to analysis-paralysis when you have too many good ideas and (seemingly) no way to
choose between them.

Our best advice? Pick the idea you’re most excited right now about and run with it. The truth
is, it’ll evolve over time anyway, but at least you’ll get some momentum going.

Remember that clarity doesn’t come from sitting around thinking. It comes from doing and
experimenting. Even if you end up changing your mind later, you’ll get tons of valuable insights
from taking action on whatever idea you’re feeling most lit up about now.

Ask yourself these questions to rev up your Firestarter juices:

What are you most excited/curious about right now?
Who are a few people you most admire? Why?
Think of a problem you’re currently facing. What are 3 possible solutions?
If you had total control over one of your current work projects, what would you do?
Where in your life/career are you feeling trapped or stifled?
What’s a rule you feel needs to be broken?
