Social and Emotional Learning

Dear Parents,

In class this week, your student was introduced to social and emotional learning (SEL).
SEL is defined as the “skills, attitudes, and behaviors to deal effectively and ethically
with daily tasks and challenges.”

Throughout class, we will be learning about valuable skills to help students be

successful in life, at home, in the community, and in the world!

Some of these skills include:

 The ability to solve problems

 The ability to manage conflicts
 The ability to work together
 Communication skills
 Making good decisions
 Understanding your strengths and weaknesses
 Being able to self-regulate.

I look forward to sharing more ideas with you as the term progresses.

Sincerely,
