1. Introduction
This manual aims to help you get the latest software programs for your keyboards.

The update process includes two major steps:

1. Install the update tool to your PC.

2. Update your instrument with the tool.

ITEMS TO PREPARE FOR THE UPDATE

Following items are required to perform the update.

1. Instrument itself

2. PC to send the updater to the instrument

3. USB Standard Cable

4. Roland Comm Firmware Update Setup (Please download from Roland official website)

5. Updater “(Model Name and Version No.).DAT” file (Please download from Roland official website)

2. Install the Roland Comm Firmware Update

2.1 Preparation
⚫ Make sure your PC has the operating system Windows 8.1 or Windows 10.

⚫ Disengage the anti-virus programs or security software on PC if there is any.

⚫ If you have installed the update tool, you may skip the following steps and go to Firmware Update.

2.2 Double click the setup icon.

2.3 Click “Yes”, “Next >” to continue.

2.4 Click “Install” to start the installation.

2.5 Click “Next” to install the device driver.

Note: If the device driver is not installed or is not properly installed,

please refer to 《Roland Driver Installation Instructions (Manually)》, install manually the driver.

2.6 Click “Finish” to complete the installation.

2.7 Installation is finished. You will find the Firmware update icon
on the desktop.

3. Firmware Update
3.1 Double click the Roland Comm Firmware update icon on PC
desktop.
⚫ The Firmware Update window will pop up. Make sure you get the message below before proceeding.

3.2 Open the update file
The pictures below show the update progress of an instrument.

⚫ Click the explorer which is showed by red box in the picture below.

⚫ Open the update file “AAAAA.DAT”. (AAAAA indicates the model number.)

3.3 Preparation
⚫ Connect your instrument to computer with a standard USB cable.

Note: Never connect the computer with more than one instrument for each update.

⚫ Make sure power supply is reliable during the update.

3.4 Enter Update Mode

Press and hold [STORE] + [M1] + [M3] at the same time, then turn on the power. It will enter Update

Mode. The instrument’s LCD will display “Prog…!”

Note:
In case you don’t get the above message, please try the following steps:
⚫ Check the USB connection or try with another USB cable.
⚫ Try with another USB port on PC.
⚫ Double click the update icon to start the process again.

3.5 Click “↓Update” to start.

Note: Do not disconnect power supply or turn off the instrument during the update!

Note: The progress bar will repeat several times before the update is finished.

3.6 Finish the update.
⚫ It will prompt “Update successful”. Click “OK” to finish the update.

⚫ When update is finished, close the update tool and restart your instrument, it will operate with the

latest programs.
