Through this letter that mediated by our outgoing students, Irma Suryani who
will perform clerkship in Surgery- Gastrointestinal Department at WAM University
Hospital in Lods, we would like to introduce you to Medical Faculty of Andalas
University, Padang, West Sumatera, Indonesia.

Medical Faculty of Andalas University was established on September 7, 1955. We

have 4033 alumnis, 3789 under graduate (doctors) and post graduate (bachelors), 10
professor doctors, 52 specialisation programme, and those numbers are still counting.

Medical Faculty of Andalas University mainly focuses on developing research on

"Tropical Medicine and Community Nutrition”. We allocate 2 billion rupiahs/year to
develop our research sectors. We also support CIMSA (one of IFMSA’s National Member
Organization) as they offer various good projects and activities, including the exchange
program which we believe can be a good platform to improve medical education qualities
in order to generate excellent doctors and medical professionals.

As the Dean of medical Faculty of Andalas University, I hope our student is welcome,
and can gain great experience under guidance from excellently-qualified doctors from
your hospital. I also hope our universities can establish and maintain good relationship
and cooperation, for examples:
 Academic recharging program
 Scholarship program for approximately three months to our lecturers who wish to
complete a master and doctorals programmes
so that our goal to be one of the leading Medical Faculties can be achieved with your kind
help.
