Chapter 1 For Your Safe Operation
WARNING
1) Use environment
・This equipment should be used indoors.
・This equipment should be used at ambient temperatures from 0°C to 40°C
and an ambient humidity of 25-85%.
2) Electric power
Only allow Matsui service personnel or an employee in your company who has
expert knowledge about electricity to carry out a check or replacement, as
operation includes the possibility of failure or danger.
4) Prohibition of Modifications
Never perform reconstruction or modification without our approval. We cannot
be held responsible for any problems caused by modification or reconstruction.
6) Maintenance
Maintenance worker:
Do not check or replace except by an employee who has expert knowledge
about the product, because operation includes the possibility of failure or
danger.
When using a crane or hoist in a case to replace a gear motor, a qualified
person should observe necessary safety rules such as occupational health and
safety regulations and electric facility technical standards.
Clothing:
Avoid clothing which is easily caught, and wear safety shoes.
Wear thick gloves which protect your hands from being cut to prevent injuries
as it is necessary to handle the cutter.
Wear dustproof glasses and a mask because powdered dust scatters in the air
when cleaning using an air gun.
Request for maintenance and repair:
Please contact Matsui America Inc. (refer to the back cover), when you require
maintenance or repair.

CAUTION
1) When disposing of products and parts
When disposing of products, obey the laws of the applicable use country after
use of product and parts.
2) Power supply
Please use under the exact power supply voltage and frequency according to
the specifications, and establish a reliable ground.
3) Routine checks
The equipment system and parts have a life expectancy.
Check the system and parts especially where materials contact at regular yearly
intervals, if the parts require replacement, contact Matsui America Inc.
NOTE
1) Cleaning
Do not clean painted surfaces and resin parts (hopper sight glass, window for
checking door opening/closing on driven side) with petroleum solvents.
Cleaning with benzene, thinner, or polishing powder will scratch the surface. If
the labels become dirty, wipe with a soft cloth that has been soaked in water or
hot water under 104° F (40C) and wrung well.

Chapter 2 Precautions for Operation
Casters Be sure to lock casters in two positions except when moving the
CAUTION granulator.
Reusing crushed When using the crushed material after initial delivery, there is
CAUTION material the possibility that foreign matter of AGR (oil) and fine
particles, etc., have mixed.
As for the initial crushed material and during set changes, reuse
after confirming that the AGR (oil) and foreign matter are not
being mixed in the crushed material.
Control box Do not the open control box except when necessary.
WARNING There is a danger of electric shock, and will cause trouble and
accidents.
Do not give strong shocks, and do not spray with water.
These actions will become the cause of trouble and fire.
Suction box If operation is continued with the suction box full, the rotating
WARNING cutters scoop crushed particles in the suction box, and the
scrapers cut the particles, which can cause bending or damage.
Do not operate with the suction box full.

This chapter explains operation of the equipment and the stopped
condition.
NOTE
Before starting operations, carry out the mentioned work of Chapter 5.
Preparations for Operation.
DANGER
◎Do not insert hands inside the feed hopper and lower part
of granulator during operation.
Hands and fingers are likely to be cutoff by the sharp
rotating cutters.
◎Do not look inside the feed hopper during operation.
Plastic material scatters, and there is a risk that material
may strike your eyes / face.
CAUTION
NOTE
◎When the cutting chamber of the granulator or the feed
hopper is not completely closed, the equipment does not
start when the limit switches are not engaged.
◎If the cutting chamber fasten-clamp on the granulator or
feed hopper are loose, the equipment does not start when
the limit switches are not fully engaged.
Or, the equipment stops immediately when the limit switch

for performing maintenance and checks, in order to maintain the unit in
good condition, and how often to check them.
WARNING
CAUTION
CAUTION
Check that the unit body and motor do not have abnormally high temperatures.
※If these reach abnormally high-temperatures, stop the unit immediately and
find the cause of the high heat.
CAUTION
Measure the load-current value under operation, and make sure that it is in the
rated value range.
The rated value is noted on the nameplate of the motor.

WARNING
◎When the feed hopper is opened, support the feed hopper from the
back side and lower it down slowly!
Do not insert hands/ fingers into pinch-points, or near the hinges, or
hinge-stoppers.
When the feed hopper is ready to be closed, lift it slowly. If it seems
too heavy to lift, ask someone to assist you!
At that time, be careful not to insert hands and fingers into the pinch
points.
When hands and fingers are inserted into pinch points, there is a risk
of suffering lacerations and fractures.
◎Do not touch the granulating cutters carelessly. The granulating
cutters are sharp and there is a risk that hands and fingers will suffer
lacerations.
NOTE
When cleaning with an air gun, use a face-mask, as debris may scatter
in the air.

Set the fixed cutter on the upper casing and temporarily tighten the
mounting bolts so that the fixed cutters can move freely.
Inspect the clearance gap between the small rotating cutters and the
fixed cutters by manually turning the small cutters in the opposite
direction. The small rotating cutters back-face, and fixed cutters
edge, pass with each other with about a 3mm gap.
Insertion of clearance After tightening, remember to pull out the clearance gauges.

CAUTION
When a cutter gap-adjustment is performed, turn the
cutters backwards manually with the rod, so not to
cause the edge of the fixed cutter and edge of the
small rotating cutter to collide, and chip. Make sure to
turn the rotating cutters in the opposite direction!
* Clearance adjustment shim gauges are sold separately. If you need to acquire
some, try supply-stores such as McMaster-Carr.
