Examining briefly the entries in Strong's Concordance for the instances of pronominal suffixes and

comparing that with it the number of times one is elided, I then decided to examine the number of times
that the KJV has supplied a pronominal suffix where one is elided in the MT (typeset in italics in most
KJVs). Turns out that there are plenty of examples, and rather than going through the entire MT, I would
just take a snippet from the books of Genesis and Hosea as an illustration.

A tally (for OT and NT combined by Strong) of all English instances of the pronouns and suffixes cited
below comes to approximately 54,390, so I expect a random sample taken from Genesis and Hosea
would probably be roughly indicative of the entire MT in type and frequency for those that have been
elided.

I looked for the elision of 'her' -- the suffix under question which is suggested to accompany QALON 'her
vagina' in Hos. 4:18. Genesis has three instances of the elision of 'her' that has been supplied by the KJV
translators: 12:19; 20:7 and 24:51. Hosea has 'her' supplied at 13:8.

For 'his' we have it supplied nine times in Gen. 12:20; 20:7; 25:34; 13:12; 25:28; 37:23; 38:20, 28 and
44:22 and once in Hosea: 14:15[?].

Other pronouns or pronominal suffixes that were supplied by the KJV that were omitted in the MT
include: 'their': Gen. 37:16; 44:27 and Gen. 47:12; 'he': Gen. 29:6 and 44:16; 'they': Gen. 32:18; 'me':
Gen. 30:26; 'I': Gen. 40:16; 'this': Gen. 32:51, 52 and 38:29; 'him': Gen. 21:16, 16, 21:7; 22:13; 26:7; 29:6;
32:39 and 49:23; 'thee': Gen. 38:17; 'them': Gen. 24:28; 7:20; 14:14; 18:2; 19:2; 20:14; 24:28; 24:53;
27:13, 14; 28:11; 30:35, 40, 31:9; 31:33, 34; 32:16; 42:23, 28; 44:24; 47:22 and 48:13; 'these': Gen.
31:43, 43, 43 and 33:8; 'she': Gen. 20:12 and 26:7; and 'himself': Gen. 41:16. I did not bother with the
instances of 'it' or 'its.'

The book of Hosea has the following supplied by the KJV: 'me': 2:5[7]; 'him': 11:7, 13:11 and 14:8[?]; 'ye':
1:10[?]; 14:3[?]; 'thee': 8:5; 'them': 2:7[9]; 2:23[25]; 4:12; 6:5; 11:6 and 13:7.

From this information it is clear that it is not unreasonable to assume an elided pronoun in Hos. 4:18c
and render it 'her vagina.'
