Biography
Magic Johnson is a former Los Angeles Lakers star who is now retired. Born August 14,
1959, in his playing career he is listed as 6 feet 9 inches and weighs 215 pounds. After his high
school graduation, Johnson signed on to play for the Michigan State Spartans. During his college
days, Magic Johnson, alongside Larry Bird, is widely credited with putting basketball on the
map. But it wasn't until the NBA that he started taking the country by storm and became a
household name almost immediately. After being selected by the Los Angeles Lakers in the
NBA Draft, Johnson won numerous NBA MVP, championship and other individual awards.
Magic Johnson was clearly ahead of his time, often referred to as the man "right next to Michael
Jordan" as the greatest basketball player of all time. Not only was he a 6-foot-9 point guard with
the best vision ever, Johnson slipped into the play center when the Lakers needed it. Off stage,
Johnson is known for his stint as a member of the Los Angeles Dodgers, his stint as head coach
