PASSIVE VOICE

What is Passive Voice

 The passive voice is used to show interest in the person or object that experiences an action
rather than the person or object that performs the action. In other words, the most important
thing or person becomes the subject of the sentence.

 Kalimat pasif adalah kalimat dimana subjek dikenai tindakan/pekerjaan (we make the object of
an action into the subject of a sentence)

When do we use it?

 To show interest in the person or object that experiences an action rather than the person or
object that performs the action.

• The house was built in 1654.

 When we don't know or do not want to express who performed the action.

• My car has been stolen.

Example:

(Active): The man bought the house last year.

(Passive): The house was bought by the man last year
