The DENR National Capital Region is pleased to invite you to participate in the 3rd Gawad
Taga-Ilog: Search for the Most Improved Estero in Metro Manila.

Dubbed as “GTI 3.0”, the search aims to recognize the contribution and efforts of local
governments of Metro Manila (barangays in particular) in keeping the rivers and esteros within their
territorial jurisdictions clean and trash free and in actively participating with the ongoing cleanup and
rehabilitation of Manila Bay. The competition will run from November 2022 to February 2023 and is
open to all 17 local government units of Metro Manila.

Relative to this, we would like to request your good office to nominate one (1) estero or
waterway within your jurisdiction that you think fits the title “Most Improved Estero”. Kindly use the
GTI 3.0 Nomination Form enclosed herein and send the scanned accomplished nomination form to
denrncr.sfo@gmail.com not later than Friday, 9 December 2022.

The list of nominated esteros will go through a screening process to be conducted by the board
of judges with the assistance of the concerned MEO. For the field validation, the board of judges will
be joined by the concerned MEO and LGU. Attached herewith is a copy of the Criteria for Judging for
your reference.

There will be four (4) winners - Grand Champion and 1st to 3rd runners-up - for the Most
Improved Estero Award, and special awards to be identified by the board of judges and other partner
organizations.

We look forward to your active participation, as this will build public awareness and encourage
public participation of every Metro in the on-going implementation of the Manila Bay Rehabilitation
Program.
