METHODOLOGY STATEMENT MS – 01

INSTALLATION OF FCU

1.0 Purpose
To define the Methodology of installation of Fan Coil Units

2.0 Scope
This Methodology is applicable to all Fan Coils to be installed.

3.0 Procedure

3.1 The FCU will be transferred from the stores to the work area, taking into
account the make, model, capacity & tag no. This will ensure the correct
FCU is installed at the correct location.

3.2 The supervisor / foreman will ensure the subject areas are ready to
receive the FCU’s.

3.3 Arrange the installation of any FCU according to the approved drawing;
make sure the units are correctly orientated, center to each other with
sufficient access space for operation & maintenance purposes.

3.4 The FCU unit is lifted into place by means of either an easy lift, or by
personnel (dependent on weight, size & location). Once in place the
FCU will be fixed in site as per the latest approved drawings, with will
include support details, dependent on the location. Ensure all vibration
mounts are installed as per the approved drawings & or manufacturer’s
recommendations.

3.5 Check the level of the unit, & firmly tighten the support fixtures.

3.6 Connect the drainage piping & other related pipework to the unit. The
supports are arranged as per the approved drawings. Ensure the drain
pan slopes in the correct direction.

3.7 Connect the ductwork to the unit cabinet using flexible connections of full
size of the equipment & ductwork connections to avoid the transfer of
vibration as indicated into the approved drawings (IF APPICABLE).

3.8 Ensure the electrical department installs the field wiring, controls &
earthing of the equipment & tighten all connections & terminals to the
recommended torque.
