Vessel ‘s M/T “Frank”

To comply with ECA and EU regulation, Vessel uses compliant Low Sulphur Marine Gas
Oil( Sulphur <0.1% m/m) in whole ECA and EU.

All changeover timings, vessel positions, quantity of fuel oil consumed / ROB, and fuel oil
information to be filled in ECA Changeover Log Book and recorded in the Engine
Log Book..

1. Bridge informs C/E approximate time at entry / exit ECA and / or EU.

2. Approximate amount of HSFO in the M/E FO system by measurement.

- M/E FO system = 397.0 ltr

- Aux.Boiler system = 84.0 ltr

3. Using Lloyd’s Register Marine Fobas Calculator (latest version) to calculate the
approximate time necessary to dilute HSFO with LSFO (S<0.1% m/m).Starting changeover
time to be Calculating Time plus two(2) hours of safety margins to ensure complete
changeover before crossing ECA line.

MAIN ENGINE Change-Over Procedure

CHANGE OVER FROM HFO TO MGO

Start changing over according required flushing time of FOBAS program Plus(+) 2
hours.
1. Record in Engine Log Book time and Nautical position when start change over and
finish change over. Record change over procedure in Marine Fuel Oil Sulphur
Record Book.
2. Close valve for all heating Coils of fuel supply and return pipes thermal Heaters
3. Reduce pre-heating of HFO up to app…90- 950C
(Temperature drop <2oC/min and Viscosity not less than 2 cst to be maintained)

4. Open supply valve (if closed) from MGO Service Tanks No.1 and No.2
5. Shift two – way fuel valve to supply ME by MGO. Normal MGO temperature
before engine in range 40-500C

CHAGE OVER FROM MGO TO HFO AFTER LEAVING SECA AREA.

1. Start changing over after confirmation from Navigation Bridge that the vessel left
EU Emission Control Area.
2. Time and Nautical position of the ship must be recorded in Engine Log Book and
Marine Fuel Oil Record Book.
3. Before change over temperature of HFO Service tank must be increased till 850C.
4. Open supply valve HFO Service tank to Main Engine.
5. Shift fuel return valve to HFO service tank.
6. Increase MGO fuel before Main Engine up to 80 - 850C.
7. Shift two-way fuel valve to supply ME from HFO service tank.
8. Close supply fuel and return valve at MGO Service tank.
9. Regulate fuel temperature before engine entry to reach at viscosity range 10-12 cSt.

AUX.BOLER Change-Over Procedure

CHANGE OVER FROM HFO TO MGO

1. Switch OFF HFO Preheater on Boiler Switch Board.

2. Fuel Oil Temperature Bellow 70*C
3. Firing Boiler.
4. Change 2-Way Valves from HFO to MGO
5. Continuous running to Set-Point.

CHAGE OVER FROM MGO TO HFO AFTER LEAVING SECA AREA.

1. Switch ON HFO Preheater on Boiler Switch Board.
2. Fuel Oil Temperature more than 60*C.
3. Firing Boiler.
4. Change 2-Way Valves from MGO to HFO Position.
5. Continuous running to Set-Point.
