Sample Answer

Dear Mike,

Yesterday I received an invitation from New Age Management to give a presentation on marketing
techniques and I would like to ask you for a day off work to make this presentation, which is
scheduled for next Friday. Although my presentation would not last all day, I think I should be there
for the whole day in order to have the opportunity to meet attendees.

I have checked with my team and they are confident that they can cover my work for that day,
especially as we are well ahead with the Ace Corporation project. Maggie can deal with my calls
and any urgent emails whilst Barry is totally familiar with the ongoing project work.

I am sure you will agree that making a presentation for New Age will raise our profile and is likely to
bring us extra work, so I hope that you will agree to give me the day off.

Best regards,
David
