paragraphs. Each question has 4 options (A), (B), (C) and (D) for its answer, out of which ONE OR MORE than

Paragraph for Questions 51 to 52
Cyclization is one laboratory application of the addition of alkenes to alkenes.
The intramolecular process has a more favourble entropy change than
dimerization of alkenes and it has been employed in the synthesis of many
natural products. The ionones are a series of closely related chemical substances
that are part of a group of compounds known as rose ketones. β-Ionone is
responsible for the aroma of roses. It aong with  -ionone and another minor
product (X) are produced by treating 6,10-dimethylundeca-3,5,9-triene-2-one
with H2SO4. On reductive ozonolysis β-ionone gives a keto dialdehyde while  -
ionone gives a diketo aldehyde. Both of them give 2-oxopropanal also as one of
the product during reductive ozonolysis. (X) gives formaldehyde along with
other prdoucts on reductive ozonolysis.

Paragraph for Questions 53and 54

Elemental analysis of a hydrocarbon A showed presence of 90.6 % carbon by

weight. A does not decolourize bromine water but reacts with Br2 in UV light to

produce B as the main product. B on treatment with ethanolic KOH gives C.

Unlike B, C decolourizes bromine water. C on hydroboration-oxidation

produced D. On oxidation of D with CrO3/Pyridine/HCl, a new compound E is

isolated.
