STAGES OF INSTRUCTOR RECRUITMENT

PROCESS

1. Identify the hiring needs


The hiring process begins by identifying a need within the institution.

2. Advertise the position


External publicity consists of ELSI Instagram itself or job vacancy IG account
based in Padang or West Sumatra. In addition, it’s possible to ask instructors
recommendation from their colleagues.

3. Review the applications


DM will review the application and eliminate any candidates who doesn’t meet
the minimum. Then invite them to the next process through WA test
individually.
For those who applied and invited to the next process and didn’t attend to the
process max. twice, ELSI will automatically dismiss his/her application.

4. TOEFL test
ELSI will conduct TOEFL test in the morning, around 09.30 AM - 12.30 PM.
The minimum score to pass is 480 and above.
DM will check the TOEFL score, not later than 2 days after the test.

5. Interview and Microteaching


 DM conduct this interview, HM and director are possible to join. It’s
better to conduct the interview in the morning, around 10-11 AM.
 Invite instructors to join in microteaching and ask them to give their
feedback.

6. Job offers
Sort candidates who passed the assessment test, are invited to share about
ELSI’s rules and regulation, including the salary offer. Ask them to read it
carefully, and give 1 day to consider about it.
They have to confirm the next day whether they will continue the process or
not.

7. Training
Training will be held maximum 14 days. During training, trainee must come at
9.00-18.30. Trainee will have a training control card to track their training
process. (see attachment)
Trainee at least have to join Children and Teen/BB/Adult classes. There 4 are
part of training
 Class training
In this class training, DM will share how to teach English based on
ELSI’s step of teaching, including before, during, and after teaching.

 Observation
Trainee must observe the classes, and pay attention to the whole
learning process. Trainee are not allowed to disturb the learning
process during her observation. 1 class is only allowed 1 trainee.
Trainee can pick the class by checking on today’s schedule.

 Microteaching
After class training and Observation, trainee should prepare slides from
a chosen topic and have a micro teaching in front of DM and, if it’s
possible, chosen instructors
DM and instructor will give feedback regarding the performance.

 Half Teaching
Trainee will perform half teaching in some classes. These are opening
until presentation part and book until closing part. The real instructor
must give the feedback and report it to DM.

 Full Teaching
Trainee will have full teaching section of selected class. If trainee teach
without any supervise from the instructor, it will be better if he/she
teach in CCTV room or outdoor 2 nd floor, Golden Gate, Blue carpet, or
Disney World.
DMs need to review trainee progress in every two days. If they don’t show any
progress, DMs can dismiss them.
8. Probation
The maximum of probation is 2 months. Candidates must show their best
performance and more progress of teaching in any level. Management will
start give them at least one schedule per day.
