INTRODUCTION
Cloth folding machine is an automatic motor controlled cloth folding machine powered by
a Arduino system. The aim of this project is to fold T-shirt merely by pressing a button.
The folding machine is fully automatic where one has to place the T-shirt on the folding
tray and press the button. It will then fold the T-shirt by itself. Usually, a person uses
conventional method to fold the cloth which by hand folding. People nowadays have been
living with tight schedule in their daily life. Household chorus despite gender discrepancy
has been a burden for many. This work is a burden for many and sometimes tiring
depending on the amount of clothing and number of people in a house.
OBJECTIVES
To develop prototype of cloth folding device capable of folding a t-shirt.

LITERATURE SURVEY
• Suraj Shah et. Al takes one jump against automation by folding the t-shirts
by sorting mechanism. Folding has been automated by the usage of micro-
controller which can be easily replaceable and easily available in shops.
• Xudong li et. Al works on the safety of people during the folding of clothes,
they include photo sensors and infrared sensor to track the human invasion, they
also found solution on power supply.
• Bansari Shetye, Pooja Randive, Snehal Shedbale T-shirt folding process is not
difficult to use and very useful process in this world. The main intension of this
project is to fold t-shirt b just pressing a button. This folding machine is fully
automatic where one have to just place the t-shirt on the flip board and push the start
button and within fraction of seconds the t- shirt will get folded.
• Yiwei Liu et. Al deals with the process and design, the main motive of this machine
is to reduce human interference by using folding machine. It must have two place of
patterns and also completes in just 20 seconds.
6
SCOPE AND MOTIVATION
• The product will come in handy to people of all ages and will make their lives easier
by folding their clothes for them. This product folds t-shirts and shorts for an average
sized human being.
• This product will reduce the work for people with larger families and
save them a lot of time and it can be automated for industrial
application.
ABSTRACT
• The aim of the project is to fabricated cloth folding prototype. It can fold the cloth by
pressing button. It consists of three servomotors to control the motion of the folding
part.
• The servo motor (MG995) controls the folding motion and rotates according to a
program which uses Arduino board based on ATmega328p microcontroller.
• Result shows that by using this system, it comes up with the features of low
manufacturing cost and minimum complication in design.

COMPONENTS AND DETAILS
Fig.no-2(SERVO MOTOR)
The unit comes complete with 30cm wire and 3 pin ‘S’ type female header connector that fits
most receiver, including Futaba, JR, GWS, Cirrus, Blue Bird Arrow, Corona, Berg, Spektrum
and Hitec.
This high-speed standard servo can rotate approximately 120 degree (60 in each direction).
You can use any servo code, hardware or library to control these servos, so it’s great for
beginners who want to make stuff move without building a motor controller with feedback
and gear box, especially since it will fit in small place. The MG995 Metal Gear Servo also
comes with a selection of arms and hardware to get you set up nice fast.
8
SPECIFICATIONS OF SERVO MOTOR
• Weight: 55 g
• Dimension: 40.7 x 19.7 x 42.9 mm approx.
• Stall torque: 8.5 kgf·cm (4.8 V), 10 kgf·cm (6 V)
• Operating speed: 0.2 s/60º (4.8 V), 0.16 s/60º (6 V)
• Operating voltage: 4.8 V a 7.2 V
• Dead band width: 5 µs
• Stable and shock proof double ball bearing design
• Temperature range: 0 ºC – 55 ºC
ARDUINO UNO
9
The word "uno" means "one" in Italian and was chosen to mark the initial release of Arduino
Software. The Uno board is the first in a series of USB-based Arduino boards; it and version
1.0 of the Arduino IDE were the reference versions of Arduino, which have now evolved to
newer releases. The ATmega328 on the board comes pre programmed with a bootloader that
allows uploading new code to it without the use of an external hardware programmer.
10
METHODOLOGY
• Connections- PC- USB-Arduino Board-Breadboard-Servomotor.
• The Arduino Board is used to program the servomotor.
• The 3 servomotors mounted on the inner cardboards plays a main role
in Folding the cloth.
• The foam board attached to the servo motor ,which flips a part of a
cardboard where the T shirt gets folded by 1 fold.
• Breadboard is used to make quick electrical Connection between
electrical components.
• The electrical components are connected Using jumper wires .
• The Arduino board is programmed By Arduino IDE in such a way that
the servomotors Rotate by 180 degrees at right intervals of time as per
requirement from the PC.
• This PC is connected to the Arduino board Via USB cable where the
Program is fed as an input.
