COHILAS AND MAYOR BO DOROUGH: WHEREAS, The National Weather Service predicts a powerful artic cold front will bring bitterly cold temperatures, strong winds, and dangerous wind chills Friday, December 23 through Sunday, December 25, 2022; and WHEREAS, biterly cold temperatures, strong winds, and dangerous winds chills are expected across Southwest Georgia. Temperatures will quickly fall after the front Friday afternoon; and WHEREAS, sustained winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts of 30 to 40 mph Friday will result in afternoon wind chills in the teens and 20s area-wide and may exacerbate potential property damage, including downed trees and powerlines; and WHEREAS, due to the low temperatures, this projected winter weather proses a ‘danger to the people of Dougherty County. WHEREAS, the undersigned Chairman for the County of Dougherty hereby declares that a Local State of Emergency Exists.
