Cheers to new semester!

Hello student! Are you ready to learn and experience the


beauty of performing Philippine Folk dances with grace and poise?
So, what are you waiting for? Let’s get this started.

The journey in this pandemic has been tough yet you made it. As
you start exploring through this module, I hope you enjoy it. In this
module, you will learn all about Physical Education 3 (Dance). You will
learn the types of movements, its similarities and differences, safety
practices during physical education to avoid any kinds of accidents or
injuries, fundamental arms and feet positions, some Philippines Folk
dances and the very exciting part, you will perform and demonstrate a
specific folk dance that will enhance and showcase your talent in
performing.

Through this you will know and learn to appreciate the traditional
dances in the Philippines. It is very important to learn these traditional
dances for it keeps a culture of people alive, by sharing and teaching
younger generations the Philippines traditional dances or folk dances. This
is another way of giving value and appreciating the talents of our
ancestors.

As you will come to know about these dances, be ready to be part

timing and coordination in dance.

the techniques used would utilize

steps, for the first position, your
arms form a circle in front of your

while your feet form a V-shape
position. For the second position,

one arm is raised upward while the

Summary

Folk dance celebrates the cultural roots of a particular group of people.


Folk dance is typically performed as a form of ritualistic entertainment at
social gatherings. Some kinds of folk dance tell a culture’s foundational
stories, while others may simply emphasize cultural pride. Today, you
may see traditional folk-dance performances complete with traditional
garb and music at certain community and holiday events.

In the Philippines, we have lots of folkdances that signifies the culture and
tradition of each tribe or ethnicity. Folk dances from Luzon, Visayas and
Mindanao are one of the reasons why Philippines is well-known from our
beautiful and unique culture. Each folk dance has its own story that tells
deep meaning to the audience.
