City Dept. of Transportation Queens Borough Hall 120-55 Queens Boulevard (Room 285) Kew Gardens, N.Y. 11424 Re: More Input Needed in the Citibike Program & Planned Expansion Dear Borough Commissioner Garcia and Staff Members: At their regular monthly meeting, conducted on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, the Members of Community Board 5, Queens adopted the following Recommendation of their Transportation Services Committee regarding the Citibike Program, including the current planned expansion of the Citibike Program in portions of Community District 5, Queens: ‘That the Board wants to have an active role in the planned implementation of this program, including being consulted on the selection of Citibike Stations. ‘That the needs of the community be taken into consideration. ‘That implementation of the planned Citibike Program expansion needs to be done in a way that is positive for everyone. When possible, stations should be located where automobile parking spaces would not be lost such as in daylighted parking lane locations, other areas of parking restrictions and, where feasible, on sidewalks. ‘That stations should be kept on the smaller side. That the most up-to-date copy of the Citibike Rules and Regulations be sent to our office. That it is important that changes can be made to Citibike locations when there are issues.
