A. Preparatory Activities
 Drill
*Show Cards and let them Divide Mentally numbers by 2,3,4,5
and 10

Mechanics:
a. Divide the class into 2 groups.
b. As you flash the cards, each member of the group will answer. The
first pupil with the correct answer earns a point for his or her group.
c. The group with the most points wins.

*Review on the different steps in analyzing word problems.
B. Developmental Activities
a) Motivation
*What special occasion do we celebrate during October 5?
(World Teachers’ Day)
*Ask also the value of every teacher.
b) Presentation
* Present problem on the board
The principal of Malalag Central elementary school wants to
give ballpen to her 9 teachers. She has 18 pieces of ballpen.
How many pens will she give to 9 teachers if she has 18 pieces
of it?
: Can you restate the problem in your own words?
*Call pupil to underline the question in the problem.
*Ask pupils to restate the question in the form a statement.

: In analyzing a problem, we followed steps in order to


understand and solve the problem. These are the steps:
*1. State the problem in your own word.
2. Determine what is asked by underlining it.
3. State the question in statement form.
4. Solve the problem with complete solution.
c) Analysis
*Solve the problem:
First, show 18 pieces of ballpen. Then call one pupil to divide
the ballpen to 9 teachers.
Ask: How many ballpen will each teacher received?
Do you have other ways of solving the problem?
Call pupils to show their solution.
You may show this illustration to guide the pupils.
