Instead, when the plug is ee of the engine case threads, quick pull the plug out of the way and lt the ol pour into the drain pan. Have a rag handy just in case. Remove the ol fiter mounting bolt and drop out the oll fiter Replace the oll fiter element with a new one ‘This is where gets a bt tricky the fist tine you do this. T advise having your owners manual handy for the exact seauence the parts need to be assembled when doing a iter ‘change. They have a very nice drawing in there. ‘The dropped out ol fiter element and associated parts i Replace the O-rings with new on ‘you can see the larger 0 ring around the outside portion of the plate, There is a smaller 9 fing which requires removal of that spring and washer. the smaller O rng is at the hase of the center tube... remave the spring, washer ang base Pbte. ew 0 rings should be Included with the fiter.. mine has thern with the Wik fiters I use oGbe to replace the O ring, use something to lft the o ring aut of i's groove ane replace with @ new 0-19. With the © rngs changed, we are now ready to reinstall the fiter. In the next post. Fill the engine to the upper level line n the sight glass with a good qu: oll specified inthe owners manual ty engine ‘Do this with the bike sitting absolutely vertical to prevent overfiling. Bike holds ‘about 1.7-1.8 ats., but underfil it by a ittie bt, then run the bike, then top off. t's ‘est to work up to the fil mark instead of overfiling and having to take oil out. Ask ‘me how know! You do not want to run with the bike overfilled with oi. You run the risk of engine damage with an overfiled engine. Please be very careful get the oil evel between the lines In the sight glass. usually Ml mine to the upper fll mark on the sight glass. ‘The only way to get an accurate oil level reading is with the bike in an absolute vertical position. not on its sidestan oGbe Start the engine run engine fora few minutes then tum off. lt sit fora few minutes. Careful ntting the ratchets wth the hammer. you could cause camage to the mechanism inside the ratchet. IF fals, YoU have no one to blame but yourset. the torque vale might seem.a bx tow, but I bet with 2 few heat cycles, the next tine you go to take off thet bolt wont feel as lose, Besides, you are simpy pushing that pte up with that bot so the rubber o-ring can seal.
