METHOD STATEMENT

PROJECT : SCIENCE PARK PLOT 3

SUBJECT : MAXBOND 1211 CEMENTITIOUS WATERPROOFING

1 RECOMMENDED AREA

1.1 Internal & external wet area

2 RECOMMENDED SURFACES
2.1 Over clean, sound, dimensionally stable masonry concrete.

3 MATERIALS
3.1 MAXBOND 1211 MEMBRANE : Elasti-crete Two Component flexible cementitious
membrane

3.2 MAXBOND 100 PRIMER : Styrene Acrylic Modifier Polymer primer

3.3 CHOPPED STRAND MAT STRIPS: Approximately 100mm width Fibremesh

Reinforcement strips

4 SURFACE PREPARATION

4.1 Concrete surface is fully cured and have wooden trowel and gentle finish.

4.2 Concrete surface shall be clean, dry, free of honey-combs, protusions, coating, oil
or laitance.

4.3 Form 15x15mm angle fillet to slab and wall joints.

4.4 Water down-pipes shall be cut flush with the substrate to allow for water-flow.

5 PRIMING

5.1 Prior to application of Maxbond 1211, the substrate shall be applied with a thin layer
of Maxbond 100 primer or water.

5.2 Maxbond1211 shall be applied straight away after the primer. No curing of primer is
needed.

6 MIXING

6.1 The two component product shall be mixed in the following proportions :-
9 kg (1 pail) Elasti-crete liquid (Part A)
15 kg (1 bag) Elasti-Crete Fillers (Part B)

6.2 Pour the liquid polymer(Part A) into a clean mixing container. Add in the filler powder
(Part B) gradually while mixing until a lump free plastic consistency is achieved.
No addition of water is allowed. It is recommended that a mechanical mixer (400-500rpm)
shall be used for 2-3 minutes to ensure proper mixture of the components.

PROJECT : SCIENCE PARK PLOT 3

SUBJECT : MAXBOND 1211 CEMENTITIOUS WATERPROOFING

7 INSTALLING REINFORCEMENT FIBREMESH STRIPS

7.1 At the juncture of wall and slab, water down-pipes and pipe penetrations, a re-inforcement
coat of Maxbond 1211 shall be applied using brush. When it is still wet, embed in
reinforcement fibremesh immediately followed by application of membrane first coat.

8 APPLICATION OF MAXBOND 1211 MEMBRANE

8.1 Apply 1st coat with hand roller / brush to achieve 0.75mm wet film thickness.

8.2 Allow to become touch-dry before commencing 2nd coat of the same thickness in
perpendicular direction.

8.3 During application, constantly check on the wet film thickness using WFT gauge ensuring
the minimum thickness is achieved.

8.4 Generally, turn up 300mm at upright angles. Apply to 1800mm high at shower wall.

8.5 At water down-pipes, the membrane shall be applied to turn down into the internal
circumference of minimum 50mm.

8.6 Leave to cure for minimum 24 hours before conducting ponding test. Spiked
footwear over the membrane is not permitted.

9 FLOOD TEST

9.1 Plug all drain outlets and flood waterproofed surfaces for minimum 24 hours.

9.2 After ponding have persisted for 24 hours, inspect soffit of roof slab for signs of
leakage.

9.3 If any leakage is detected, release water and apply two coats of Maxbond 1211 to
the problem area. Reconduct test until leakage is arrested.

9.4 Release water and lay protective screed immediately.
