1) The king wanted to know from the learned men what was
the right time for an action, who was the most important
person, and what was the most important thing to do at any
given time.
2) The king finally decided to consult a hermit who was
renowned for his wisdom. The hermit lived in a wood which
he never left, and he received none but common folk. So, the
King put on simple clothes, and on reaching the hermit’s
cottage, dismounted from his horse and left his bodyguards
behind, before approaching the hermit.
3) The bearded man was an enemy of the king who had
sworn to take revenge on him. He had been injured and was
bleeding profusely.
