Q2 What is the cost pipe and fittings around the booster pump system if the < 2.5 points >
unit rate of the pipe material is USD 2.00 / kg. Fitting cost is 35% of the
pipe material cost. Refer to the attached fot pipe technical data.
Pipe Material is GALVANIZED STEEL, MEDIUM CLASS

< Answer >

1) 100mm dia pipe = 25 m x 12.48 kg / m 312.00 kg

1) 80mm dia pipe = 4 m x 8.58 kg / m 34.32 kg
2) 50mm dia pipe = 3 m x 5.17 kg / m 15.51 kg
Total Weight of pipe = 361.83 kg

Cost of pipe = 361.83 x 2 = 723.66 USD

Cost of fitting = 723.66 x 35% = 253.29 USD

Total Cost of pipe & fitting = 976.95 USD

Q-2 Different type of Sprinkler System (2 points)

a) Wet Pipe Installation :- Installation where the pipework is filled with water and
ready to discharge once the sprinkler bulb breaks

b) Dry Pipe Installation :- Installation where the pipe is always filled with air under
pressure. Air is released when the sprinkler buld breaks
and the water fills the pipe and is discharged at the
sprinkler heds

c) Pre-action Installation :- Installation where the pipeworks is charged with air

underpressure and a valve is opened to filled the system
with water when fire is detected by smoke or heat
detectors. Water is charged only when the sprinkler bulb
breaks

d) Deluge Installation :- Installation where the sprinkler heads has no bulb and
water is discharged simultaneously from all heads when
fire is detected and the valve is opened.
