CALA CONTEXT:

The number of young people suffering from cardiovascular diseases has been increasing over
the past decades. Scientists suspect the changing lifestyle and activities of young people are
responsible for the rise. The pupil is required to investigate cardiovascular diseases and
prepare an awareness poster to educate young people on reducing risk factors for
cardiovascular diseases.
ASSESSMENT PROCEDURE:

PART A

a) What are cardiovascular diseases? [2]


b) Name any three cardiovascular diseases [3]
c) Identify any five lifestyle or activities among youths which increases risk of
cardiovascular diseases [5]

PART B

Prepare a one-page poster to educate young people at your school on cardiovascular diseases,
encouraging them on any three activities they can do to reduce risk of getting cardiovascular
diseases. [15]

The CALA will be marked out of 30.
