SNTE Windows
5
5.1 Creating a New Window
You can create up to nine (9) Sabre windows within a window group. When you create a new
child window, the window is added to the list of windows found at the bottom of the Window
menu. The default window name for each new window is "# SABRE", where "#" represents the
window number (1–9) on the Window list.
Note:
If you have already created nine (9) windows in the window group and you attempt to create a
new window, a warning message is displayed.
To create a new window you will first need to close one of the existing windows.
You can have up to nine (9) Sabre windows within a window group open. You will need to close
one of the nine in order to create any new windows.
Note:
You can also click on the window’s red “X” in the right corner of the window to close the
window or left click once on the left corner of the window to close the window from the
“Close” menu item.
To close all open Sabre windows in the window group, select the “Close All” menu item from
the “Window” menu.

5.3 Switching Between Windows
If your window group contains more than one Sabre window, you can easily switch between the
windows. Only one Sabre window can be active at a time. You can tell which window is active
by looking at the title bar of the windows—the active window has a darker blue title bar while the
inactive windows have a lighter blue title bar.
Note:
You can also switch among windows by pressing the “CTRL+F6” keys until the desired window
becomes active. If a Sabre window has been minimized to an icon, you can double click on the
icon to re-open the window.
You can rename each window in the window group using the following instructions.
3. In the “Rename Window as:” field type in the new name of the window and then click on the
“OK” button to change.

5.5 Arranging Windows
You can arrange windows in the window group using the following instructions.
If you have more than one Sabre window open, there are commands that you can use to
automatically arrange the windows on your screen. You can use two methods to arrange windows
- tiling and cascading.
Tiling is used to arrange the windows so that all windows are visible on the desktop, and
no window overlaps another window. You can tile the window horizontally or vertically.
Cascading is used to arrange the windows so that the windows overlap each other on the
desktop, and the title bar of each window is visible.
Tile Horizontally
1. From the “Window” menu select the “Tile Horizontally” menu item. The windows will be
tiled horizontally.

Tile Vertically
2. From the “Window” menu select the “Tile Vertically” menu item. The windows will be tiled
vertically.

the window icons at the bottom of the SNTE window.

40
5.7 Redirecting a Response to another Window
Sabre responses are normally displayed in the active window where you make the Sabre entry.
The "redirect response" feature of SNTE allows you to type a Sabre entry in one window and
redirect the Sabre response to another window while your cursor stays in the original window.
This is especially useful when you need to view additional Saber information without disrupting
the information that is displayed in your active window.
For example:
You might wish to see a flight availability in your active Sabre window and fare quote information
in another window without clearing the flight availability information.
You can use either a keyboard shortcut to redirect a Sabre response to another window, or you can
select the “Redirect Response” command from the “Window” menu.
1. Type the Sabre entry in the active window, but do not press the “Enter” key.
2. Press the “CTRL” KEY + the number of the window where you would like to display the Sabre
response.
For example:
To redirect the Sabre response to window number 2, you would type “CTRL+2”.
The Sabre response is then displayed in the selected window.
Note:
If you redirect the response to an invalid window number, the response is displayed in the
active Sabre window.

Appendix
A. Java
SNTE versions 2.0 Build 1.1.41 and later have Java included in the installation package and do not
require Java installed on the workstation.
SNTE also has a feature included to allow the user to override the use of the packaged JRE by re-
setting the JAVA_HOME as a parameter when calling SNTE.exe, SNTEConfig.exe, and
SNTESessionMgr.exe.
Example:
User has installed Java 1.5.0_11 in C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0_11
Environment variable “SNTE_JAVA_HOME” is required with the value C:\Program
Files\Java\jdk1.5.0_11.
To set this Environment Variable right click on “My Computer” and then click on
“Properties”. The following screen will appear.
Then click on the “Advanced” tab. The following screen will appear.
