Trams

Trams are the streetcars in the US and it was first developed in late 19th century as a cheap and
convenient mass transport in many cities. But it had some disadvantages like Rail-based systems
were expensive to maintain and Fixed tracks system was inflexible .so many European and Asian
cities closed tram system during 1950s and 1960s.

Today trams becoming popular again as they are less polluting than cars and cheaper to operate.
Therefore, some cities like Paris and Manchester are building new systems. On the other hand,
construction costs and traffic congestion blocking tracks are big problems. So, trams remain
controversial due to the expense of building modern tramways.
