Problem definition:
Discrimination in workplace is an ethical dilemma occurred in this case as there were
group of employees treated unfairly or unequally because of their nationality (they were not
Hispanic).
List of alternatives:
1. Put a written clear policy that defines rights and duties of every employee and his
salary according to his position and qualifications.
2. Mandatory training to supervisors and managers on how to respond and handle any
case of discrimination.
3. Allow different ways of reporting any issue of discrimination between employees and
their supervisors and managers.
Evaluation of alternatives:
A policy that guaranties there is no discrimination between employees to ensure that all
employees feel respected, financially appreciated and will take their rights whatever their
nationality regarding the existing employees and application process is accessible to all
potential candidates regarding new ones with the same salary and that firm supports diversity
without discrimination. policy shows the employers’ goals and motivations in eliminating
discrimination and this policy should be revised egularly.
Training of managers and supervisors to deal with the issue of complain of discrimination
very promptly and confidentially and caring with any complain. Always encourage
employees to speak or report any feeling of discriminating and manager or supervisor try to
make workplace environment free of discrimination. Managers always provide detailed
reasons to any descion regarding their employees.
Provide employees with different mechanisms for reporting any incidents of
discrimination without feeling endangered. Create an investigation exercise regularly without
showing name or any data of employee to express his opinions regarding his peers,
supervisor, manager and policy of firm.
Recommendation
I recommend alternative one for this case.
