Review of the themes and plot of the

first episode of the new anime "Sword
Gai - The Animation".
The story revolves around Gai, a swords‐
man who is extremely gifted in the use
of his sword, who used it to defeat the
demons of hell. After being defeated,
the demon lord turned Gai's sword into a
demon sword called "Ancalagon" that
sucks out souls. But Gai managed to seal
the sword inside his body with a magic
spell, then he managed to find the last
princess of the previous demon lord's
country, Kuro, who voluntarily became
Gai's wife. Gai is trying to control his
sword by training under the last re‐
spected swordsman in his former home,
who himself once tried to defeat Gai.
One day, the current demon lord orga‐
nized a tournament where Gai will be
forced to face his former teacher, and
in the process unleash the demon sword
onto the land once again. Can Gai con‐
trol the power of his sword and avoid
becoming a pawn to the demon lord?" …
