Do Electric Neural Nets Dream Of Anime Shows?

Review of the themes and plot of the

first episode of the new anime "Chika,
Rise of the Yokai Clan: Demon
Capital", based on the manga of the
same name written by Karakara-Kuro. 
The story opens with our protagonist,
the tanuki (Japanese raccoon dog)
Chika, sitting inside a train station
in Kyoto, talking with a human woman.
The woman is his host mother's younger
sister, who has just gotten divorced
and has temporarily moved back into
her older sister's place. 
When she asks what work Chika does, he
explains he is a tanuki working at a
teahouse. He had originally been plan‐
ning to move to Tokyo but had gotten
entangled with his host mother's
younger sister at a shrine in Kyoto
and had stayed behind as a result. The
human woman is surprised at Chika's
knowledge of culture and literature,
so he adds that he is a college stu‐
dent as well.
The human woman tells Chika that she
plans to travel to Western Kyoto for
sightseeing and Chika joins her.
In Western Kyoto, they see a group of
young human men wearing Kamigata
(Kansai region) style costumes fight‐
ing with each other. The human woman
becomes interested in the sight and
asks Chika what exactly is going on.
Chika tells her that they are probably
working on a location hunting (tourism
promotion) program for a TV show or
movie. He mentions that some of the
young men may be actors as well
