INTRODUCTION
 Background
• Cement manufacturing is a resource intensive industry. It require about 1.5 – 1.7 tonnes of quarried raw material to produce a tonne of clinker,
and the cement kilns require substantial energy with temperature of over 2000oC. Each tonne of cement produced typically requires 60 – 130
kilograms of fuel oil, or its equivalent, and about 105 KWh of electricity [1].
• Clinker burning is the most important phase of the production process in terms of the environmental impact associated with cement
manufacture.
 Objective
• Carry out Life Cycle Inventory (LCI) for clinker production at burning process.
• Identify significant environmental impacts in cement industry.
• Recommend the option on improvement in cement production in order to achieve sustainable environmental management.

METHODOLOGY  GaBi Simulation for Cement Production

 Establish flow diagram for the cement production process.

The LCI table was established based on scope and boundary of the study impacts of cement production

 The impact assessment – GaBi

 Recommendation
• Co-processing – cradle to cradle concept.
• Product innovation – green cement.
• Application of Best Available Technique (BAT).
• Establish biodiversity management plan and rehabilitation plan.
