In order for the world to be a 'greener' place, punishments and fines for

environmentally unfriendly acts committed by individuals need to be more

severe.

To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own
knowledge or experience.

Global warming has been a topic of discussion among almost every nation on the earth. Various
organizations have come to existence to raise this issue and demand the world leaders to increase their
efforts in order to improve the overall conditions of the climate. The most important point in this aspect
is to penalize those who try to damage the environment for their own benefit. However, I am
completely in favour of the idea to punish such people, and I will support my opinion with examples in
this essay.

Firstly, the government of a country makes hefty investments to plant trees. In other words, to enhance
the natural conditions of a state, the authorities take every possible step to improve nature which cost
them a huge sum of money. For example, The Prime Minister of Pakistan has sanctioned billions of
dollars just to make the nation a ‘greener’ place. Consequently, the administration must take strict
action against a person who causes harm to this activity.

Secondly, it creates a sense of responsibility among the people. That is to say that they get more
disciplined as a fear develops that if they do anything wrong, especially to nature, they will have to pay
for it. For instance, the government of Pakistan has developed a law to prison those, for at least a year,
who are caught in the act of deforestation. Subsequently, one is bound to protect it as he never wishes
to give heavy fines.

On the contrary, the citizens must be educated about the importance of greenery in society. Different
platforms are available to the local administration, such as advertisements, that can be used to train
them regarding the positive and negative consequences of discouraging this culture. Take the plantation
of trees in a city as an example, it not only helps to reduce the temperature, the air quality improves as
well; furthermore, it saves the surrounding atmosphere from greenhouse gases. As a result, they will get
awareness and make efforts on an individual level to have a better environment.

In conclusion, the value to develop and protect the atmosphere, nowadays, has been a key parameter in
analyzing the performance of governing bodies. This has forced them to provide funds regularly to
develop ‘green’ infrastructure and direct the people to behave responsibly. Hence, I believe that the
authorities shall declare it an offensive crime and register cases against such activities.
