GEC 101 Xx2 – Understanding the Self

After finishing the video lecture on Sociological Perspectives on the Self, answer

1. What are your major takeaways about the self after learning
about the chapter?

Just as social structures and forces shape our lives, our choices
and actions influence the nature of society. The sociological
perspective allows us to see how both outcomes are possible.

2. Out of the perspectives discussed, which theorist left a mark

on you the most? Why?

Bronfenbrenner's Ecological Systems Theory of Development, this
theory helps us understand why we may behave differently when
we compare our behavior in the presence of our family and our
behavior when we are in school or at work.

4. How is your microsystem? Identify one aspect in you

microsystem and explain how it is affecting your current
development.

My development happens physically, emotionally, socially, and

intellectually during this time. Having a close-knit and supportive
family provides emotional support, economic well-being, and
increases overall health.
