Technology Back-Up Plan Essay

We as students are responsible for a technology backup plan just in case something happens to

the computer we use at home. Its better if it was done in advance and then follow a backup plan

for my computer and classroom information or data. Computer failures do happen, and can result

in a failed class, lost tuition, or simply a late assignment. It's my job to ensure that I can continue

to participate in class and to complete assignments with little disruption to myself or others. If

the computer disruption is so serious that it may last longer than a few days, I will need to

contact either my faculty member or someone from the academic advising team to get help so

that I can remain in the class. Some internet service providers will allow storage on the internet

for free or for a small charge. The key is to use the backup device on a regular basis daily,

weekly, or even monthly. If my computer failure, I have a plan to use another computer, such as

at a local coffee shop, a public or school library, or even at my job, with a friend or family

member. It is recommended that I should use an extra external hard drive or portable drive and

take my backed-up data to use on the computer. What I will do if I encounter technological

issues during this course is to have a plan for finding another computer in the event of an

emergency such as a power failure, natural disaster, fire, burglary, or loss of access to one’s

home. If another computer is needed in an emergency, that computer may not have the latest

version of software available and may not be able to read a document, but in case that will

the previous version of the application, such as in Word 2007 and Word 2003.
