1.0 SMURPS by Strella Group
1.1 Company Provider Background

SMURPS was developed by Strella Group, a start-up founded by a bunch of gutsy techies
with vast experiences in delivering successful end-to-end systems integration and Enterprise
Resource Planning (ERP) implementation projects. This organization is located at Prima Avenue,
Petaling Jaya Selangor. SMURPS aims to make a difference in the SME market by providing the
right technology solution, one that is easy to use and tailored to suit the uniqueness of each
business. They provide ERP systems for the service line or manufacturing industry, accounting
software, sales systems, and inventory management, be it food, tools or fashion. They aim the
serve the customers and bring value to the businesses.

SMURPS was created in 2015 by Javier Wong and Ong Wee Nee. Their journey started
when they first met as colleagues in Accenture in 2009. They came together to solve the SME’s
most challenging problems in business operations. They created a user-friendly, customizable,
cost-efficient and easily deployable system for a market that was often outpriced and overlooked.
With their combined expertise in tech infrastructure and SAP ERP implementation, the dynamic
duo pursued their passion and quit their cushy jobs to make a difference in the industry. Today,
SMURPS is being used in many different industries which include manufacturing, retail, trading
and wholesale distribution, services, fishing, and food and beverages.

1.2 Cost of The Systems

There is no one-size-fits-all answer regarding the cost of ERP systems. Instead, the cost of
ERP depends on various factors, ranging from the size and complexity of the business to the
features that a company needs in an ERP system. For SMURPS, they offer 3 types of plans that
the customers can choose from. They provide subscription plans for SMEs of all sizes.

• Starter

This package comes with 10 GB of storage and up to 5 users. The price is RM250 per
month and the customer has to pay an extra RM50 per additional user.

• Growth

With unlimited phone and email support, this package offers RM400 per month with up to 10 users
and 20GB of storage. The customer only has to pay RM40 per additional user per month.

• Scale

SMURPS ERP offers zero hardware maintenance with RM33 per additional user with a
total of RM650 per month. This package is up to 20 users with 40 GB of storage.

1.3 Characteristics and Functions of The Systems

ERP provides a host of services for companies trying to improve how efficiently they
operate. The systems are constantly being updated by the proprietors to offer the speediest and
most reliable services. As the name suggests, ERP’s primary goal is to manage the various
resources within the company to make sure they are being utilized cost-effectively. It is also
designed to make sure that all resources are being used efficiently.

ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) is an integrated software suite that streamlines and
consolidates all day-to-day business processes. At the heart of the system is a centralized
information store that promotes seamless and reliable information flow between the various
departments in an organization. Cloud ERP software helps the customer to manage everything
from accounting, sales and delivery, procurement, warehousing, and manufacturing whilst
enabling the team to work remotely. The customers are no longer bound by physical space
constraints. They do not have to complicate the business processes with the use of multiple
applications when they can do it all from one single integrated platform.

Moreover, SMURPS ERP software works particularly well for tracking and managing
things such as a company’s capacity for production, cash levels, raw materials at its disposal,
payroll information and purchase order. The customer can coordinate and run the warehouse
operations effectively with advanced picking and put-away strategies, integration to handheld
terminals with barcode scanning features and a scalable warehouse organizational structure.

With SMURPS ERP, customers can increase business agility with a single system that
enables the organization to gain speed, efficiency, and accuracy in its operations. By subscribing
to this ERP system, they are also able to gain control and holistic insight into where the company
stands across all departments.

1.4 Support Services by The Systems

The recent Malaysian government’s annual budget announcement emphasizes the


importance placed on the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) sector. As part of the Malaysian
government’s National Budget 2020, there are incentives for companies that invest in the
automation and digitalization of their businesses. Specifically, the Malaysian government is
allocating RM550 million in smart automation matching grants to 1,000 manufacturing companies
and 1,000 service companies to automate their business processes.

Along with this, the first 100,000 SMEs that apply, will receive a 50 percent matching
grant of up to RM5,000 as an incentive for subscribing to digital services for business operations.
Digital services include things like electronic Point of Sale systems (e-POS), Enterprise Resources
Planning (ERP) and electronic payroll systems. To read more about the incentives in National

The government is providing substantial incentives and assistance to improve SME


business efficiencies that will enable them to maintain a competitive edge within and outside of
Malaysia. Because of this, SMEs should seriously consider incorporating ERP systems into their
business operations.

2.0 Guava ERP by Guavasoft Sdn. Bhd.
2.1 Company Provider Background

Guavasoft Sdn. Bhd. has developed an ERP software for an SME manufacturer called
Guava ERP. This company is located at Sky Park One City, Subang Jaya Selangor. Guavasoft was
established in 2000 as a software developer. However, in response to market demand, the benefits
of the software were extended. The combination of complementary technologies, skills and
industry knowledge within the group is a real benefit that enables the organization to support and
add value to customers’ operations. The company continues to develop and evolve its suite of
software to meet the changing and increasing demands of modern manufacturing organizations.

Today Guava ERP integrates the entire manufacturing enterprise to provide an immediate,
visual and dynamic picture of the production process from the shop floor to the top floor.
Moreover, the organization uses a team approach to all the services, they have experts in every
skill set needed to implement a manufacturing ERP system and most of the team members have
more than 10 years of experience with ERP systems.

2.2 Cost of The Systems

ERP implementation costs are by far the most unpredictable variable in the lifecycle of an
ERP system. Every implementation is different because every company has different needs, and
every ERP solution approaches implementation in a slightly different way.

For Guava ERP, the pricing starts from RM297 to RM689 monthly. This package offers
multilingual support such as English, Spanish, Korean, Vietnamese, Japanese, Indonesian and

Thai. Moreover, they also have customer support that gives expert advice, online inquiry boards,
online user manuals and videos.

2.3 Characteristics and Functions of The Systems

Enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems have become a critical tool for businesses over
the past several decades. An ERP solution automates critical business processes and serves as a
shared database for all financial and operational information from across the company. It pulls this
data from several modules built to help various departments, from accounting to supply chain to
human resources, perform their functions.

An ERP system generally includes all the IT systems that enable ERP software to execute
and operate efficiently. An ERP system allows an organization to design, execute, operate and
maintain an enterprise information system. This system includes software that provides business
functions and processes, computing hardware for hosting and executing software applications and
back-end network architecture for data communication across and within information systems.

An ERP system may provide services and solutions such as accounting information
systems, financial information systems, production information systems, marketing information
systems and human resource information systems. These are integrated within separate
departments in an organization but are managed through a central administrative console for each
module.

Today’s small and medium businesses have a wide selection of high-powered enterprise

manufacturing, inventory, shipping and other aspects of the business. Some vendors offer self-
hosted solutions while others provide a cloud-based model.

Guava ERP offers a few ERP services to help the customers make the most of Guava ERP
investment. The customer can select products and technical ERP support via phone, WhatsApp or
email. Besides, training and consultation can be on a needed fee-for-service basis. They also can
tailor an ERP support program specifically for the organization on a committed contract basis.

Guavasoft they have a team of software learning creators that brings weekly software
learning tips, operation education and operation SOP tricks. Whether the customers are facing any
business operation challenges on the business or need a software solution to automate the business.

3.1 Company Provider Background

The journey of SYNNOVE Systems began in 2012 as a System Integration (SI) company.
Synnove Systems provides implementation and support services for SAP S/4 HANA, SAP HEC,
SAP C4C, SAP Hybris and other cloud solutions of SAP. They also designed a fixed package
solution that is designed to help companies implement digital transformation during the pandemic
era. Alongside SAP implementations and migrations, Synnove also provides end-to-end
implementation and support services for small to medium-sized enterprises by building their
custom ERP known as MyX Solution. MyX Solution is an ERP system powered by iDempiere
designed to be flexible and affordable to best suit the needs of SMEs.
3.2 Cost of The Systems

ERP cost is determined based on the complexity and nature of the business. A discrete
manufacturing business will require quite a bit of functionality to include supply chain planning,

For SYNNOVE MyX Solution, they offer ERP service for accounting, purchasing,

and up to RM2,400 yearly. For this pricing, all of the functions are included with unlimited user
IDs and 10 Groupware users. The subscription also comes with multilingual support, the mobile
app that synchronized the system with the Web and supports barcode scanning. Besides that, it
also has a CS portal where suppliers and customers place purchases and sales orders directly in the
system and employee can access their payslips online.

organizations are losing their competitive advantage. Hence, it is imminent for them to leverage
