1.COUPLED ROOF

Aim:
 To draw the elevation of a coupled roof by showing all the members

Theory and Scope:

Roof serves the basic object of a house i.e. providing shelter and safety. The roof provides
safety against weather i.e. Heat, rain, cold and snow etc. Therefore it is a very important
element of the house.
Couple Roof is the simplest form of pitched roof. Couple or pair of common rafters generally
forms this type of roof, which normally slope to both the sides of the ridge of the roof
abutting each other. Couple roof is adopted for spans up-to 3.5 meters. Lower ends of rafter
are nailed to the wall plates placed on the walls. They are placed suitably over the walls.
Purlins and battens support the roof coverings.

Procedure:
 The Units and limits have to be set for the drawing.
 The drawings has to be drawn using the draw commands and modify commands
 Annotation has to be done using dimensioning commands.

Diagram:

Figure: Elevation of a coupled roof

Results:

 The final drawing has to be printed.

2.SINGLE COLLAR ROOF

Aim:
 To draw the elevation of a single collar roof by showing different members

Theory and Scope:

Collar roof is a variation of a couple-close roof. The tie beam (collar beam) is raised to be
placed at a higher level. When the span increases or the load is high the rafters of the couple
closed roof have a tendency to bend. This is avoided by raising the tie beam fixing it at one-
third to one-half of the vertical height from the wall plate to the ridge. The height between
roof and floor will be increased with a ‘couple beam roof’. So, that space will be free to use.
These types of roofs can be adopted up to a span of 4.8m.

Procedure:
 The Units and limits have to be set for the drawing.
 The drawings has to be drawn using the draw commands and modify commands
 Annotation has to be done using dimensioning commands.

Diagram:

Figure: Elevation of a single collar roof

Results:

 The final drawing has to be printed.

3. FULLY PANELED DOOR

Aim:
 To draw the elevation and sectional plan of a fully paneled door by showing important
members

Theory and Scope:

A door is a paneled made usually of a hard impermeable, and hard to brake substance with or
without windows, but sometimes consisting of hard frame into which glass or screens have
been fitted, attached to hinges by which it is attached to frame that constitutes a space for
ingress into or egress from a building.

Procedure:
 The Units and limits have to be set for the drawing.
 The drawings has to be drawn using the draw commands and modify commands
 Annotation has to be done using dimensioning commands.
Diagram:

Results:

 The final drawing has to be printed.

4. THREE PANELLED FULLY GLAZED WINDOW

Aim:
 To draw the elevation and sectional plan of a fully glazed window of three panels,
showing important members

Theory and Scope:

Windows are considered to be one of the most important and exceptional components of a
building through which light, air and sound reach a space. It is through windows that the
interior space of a house connects with the exterior space, thereby helping the occupants of
the house enjoy the exterior environment. The houses are incomplete without windows.

Procedure:
 The Units and limits have to be set for the drawing.
 The drawings has to be drawn using the draw commands and modify commands
 Annotation has to be done using dimensioning commands.

Diagram:

Figure: Elevation and sectional plan of a fully paneled door

Results:

 The final drawing has to be printed.

5. PLAN OF EXISTING BUILDING
Aim:

 To measure an existing building (Load bearing/Frame Structure) and to draw a line

plan of measured existing building.

Theory and Scope:

Preparing building plan is a very important before construction of any structure.

Before starting to prepare the plan for any new structure to be built, drawing the plan
of any existing structure will help to visualize and decide on the area and dimensions
to be provided for all components.

Procedure:
 The Units and limits have to be set for the drawing.
 The drawings has to be drawn using the draw commands and modify commands
 Annotation has to be done using dimensioning commands.
 Plan has to be drawn for the measurement collected.

Results:

 The final drawing has to be printed.

6. Single storey building
Aim:
 To draw the Plan, elevation and Front elevation of a Single Storey Building

Theory and Scope:

A building that consists of a ground storey only. Basements are not counted as storeys in
a building (see Appendix D). A separated part that consists of a ground storey only, with
a roof to which access is only provided for repair or maintenance, may be treated as
a single storey building.'

Procedure:
 The Units and limits have to be set for the drawing.
 The drawings has to be drawn using the draw commands and modify commands
 Annotation has to be done using dimensioning commands.

Diagram:

Figure: Line Diagram for Single Story Building

Results:

 The final drawing has to be printed.

7. Two storey building
Aim:
 To draw the Plan, elevation and Front elevation of a two Storey Building

Procedure:
 The Units and limits have to be set for the drawing.
 The drawings has to be drawn using the draw commands and modify commands
 Annotation has to be done using dimensioning commands.

Diagram:

Results:
The final drawing has to be printed.
8. Electrical layout
Aim:
 To draw the Plan Electrical layout

Procedure:
 The Units and limits have to be set for the drawing.
 The drawings has to be drawn using the draw commands and modify commands
 Annotation has to be done using dimensioning commands.

9. water supply and sewage line.
Aim:
To draw the Plan water supply and sewage line layout

Procedure:
 The Units and limits have to be set for the drawing.
 The drawings has to be drawn using the draw commands and modify commands
 Annotation has to be done using dimensioning commands.
