General Instructions:

1. This Question Paper has 5 Sections A-E.

2. Section A has 20 MCQs carrying 1 mark each

3. Section B has 5 questions carrying 02 marks each.

4. Section C has 6 questions carrying 03 marks each.

5. Section D has 4 questions carrying 05 marks each.

6. Section E has 3 case based integrated units of assessment (04 marks each and do any 4 out of 5)

7. All Questions are compulsory.

8. Draw neat figures wherever required. Take π =22/7 wherever required if not stated.

SECTION A

Section B consists of 20 questions of 1 marks each.

1. If the height of a vertical pole is √ 3 times the length of its shadow on the ground, then the angle of elevation
of the sun at that time is :

2. At some point of time in the day, the length of the shadow of a tower is equal to its height. Then the sun's
altitude at that time is:

SECTION B

Section B consists of 5 questions of 2 marks each.

21. A piggy bank contains hundred 50 p coins, fifty Rs 1 coins, twenty Rs 2 coins and ten Rs 5 coins. If it is
equally likely that one of the coins will fall out when the bank is turned upside down, what is the probability
that the coin (i) Will be a 50 p coin? (ii) Will not be a Rs.5 coin?

22. A chord of a circle of radius 12 cm subtends an angle of 120° at the centre. Find the area of the
corresponding segment of the circle.

OR

To warn ships for underwater rocks, a lighthouse spreads a red coloured light over a sector of angle 80° to a
distance of 16.5 km. Find the area of the sea over which the ships warned.

23. 2 cubes each of volume 64 cm³ are joined end to end. Find the surface area of the resulting cuboids.

24. A die is thrown once. Find the probability of getting

(i) a prime number;

(ii) a number lying between 2 and 6;

25. Prove that the tangents drawn at the ends of a diameter of a circle are parallel.

SECTION C

Section C consists of 6 questions of 3 marks each.


26. A statue, 1.6 m tall, stands on the top of a pedestal. From a point on the ground, the angle of elevation of
the top of the statue is 60° and from the same point the angle of elevation of the top of the pedestal is 45°. Find
the height of the pedestal.

27. Prove that the parallelogram circumscribing a circle is a rhombus.

28. A well of diameter 3 m is dug 14 m deep. The earth taken out of it has been spread evenly all around it in the
shape of a circular ring of width 4 m to form an embankment. Find the height of the embankment.

29. The following distribution shows the daily pocket allowance of children of a locality.
The mean pocket allowance is Rs 18. Find the missing frequency f.

30. A game of chance consists of spinning an arrow which comes to rest pointing at one of the numbers 1, 2, 3,
4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and these are equally likely outcomes. What is the probability that it will point at

(i) 8? (ii) a number greater than 2? (iii) a number less than 9?

31. Two concentric circles are of radii 5 cm and 3 cm. Find the length of the chord of the larger circle which
touches the smaller circle.

OR

Prove that the angle between the two tangents drawn from an external point to a circle is supplementary to the
angle subtended by the line-segment joining the points of contact at the centre.

SECTION D

Section D consists of 4 questions of 5 marks eac h.

32. A straight highway leads to the foot of a tower. A man standing at the top of the tower observes a car at an
angle of depression of 30°, which is approaching the foot of the tower with a uniform speed. Six seconds later,
the angle of depression of the car is found to be 60°. Find the time taken by the car to reach the foot of the
tower from this point.

OR

From a point P on the ground the angle of elevation of the top of a 10 m tall building is 30°. A flag is hoisted at
the top of the building and the angle of elevation of the top of the flagstaff from P is 45°. Find the length of the
flagstaff and the distance of the building from the point P. (You may take √ 3 = 1.732)

33. A copper wire, 3 mm in diameter, is wound about a cylinder whose length is 12 cm, and diameter 10 cm, so
as to cover the curved surface of the cylinder. Find the length and mass of the wire, assuming the density of
copper to be 8.88 g per cm 3.

34. The median of the following data is 525. Find the values of x and y, if the total frequency is 100.
