MAIN MEAT CONSUMPTION DATA IN INDONESIA
Eating meat is related to many factors, including tastes and living standards, people's incomes,
prices, and macroeconomic conditions. It is not surprising that the price of meat, especially beef
and chicken, which is often volatile and skyrocketing, can have a direct impact on the level of
public consumption of meat commodities. In fact, when the price is "normal", the meat consumed
by the Indonesian people is still relatively small.
The average level of meat consumption in Indonesia is also still far below the average world
consumption level which reaches 6.4 kg of beef, 14 kg of chicken meat, 12.2 pork, and 1.7 kg of
goat meat. Of course, the low level of meat consumption also affects the low level of animal
protein intake in Indonesian society, especially for the middle to lower economic class.
