Kihuri Riverline Trek
Kihuri Forest bathing trek is one of the best hiking trails in Kenya daytrips. It is part of the southern
Aberdare National Park block. Kihuri village is in Othaya, Nyeri County, about 81 km north of Nairobi. This
trail neighbor Mucharage forest, which is yet home to another beautiful trail: Gatangu Waterfalls Chase.
The trail starts at the Othaya treatment plant which is also known as the Kihuri water treatment plant.
Kihuri Forest, Zuti forest, Njigari forest, and Gura Forest forms the larger Aberdares Southern block.
Aberdare environs play a very role in water catchment function. It is one of the five main “water towers”
in Kenya. The other four water towers include Mt Kenya, Mt. Elgon Mau Complex, and Cherangani Hills.
