1. EXPLAIN and UNDERSTAND the concepts of
career and life goals that can help in planning one’s
career.

2. Identify the PERSONAL FACTORS in influencing


CAREER CHOICES.

3. Take a SELF-ASSESSMENTSELF-ASSESSMENT
tool to know one’s personality traits and other
personal factors in relation to life goals.

Each group will have atleast 1 representative that knows
how to play charades
The person who knows the answer must raise their hands
and shout their group number so your group will be

throughout his lifetime, especially those related
to that person's occupation

improvement experienced by an individual

3. Goals - something that one wants enough that


he makes an effort to reach it.

4. Life Goals - aims or milestones that an


individual wants to achieve throughout his life.

significant people, and great amount of will
power to make

CAREER SELECTION

The selection of CAREER is one of the most


important decisions that one has to make. A career
could serve as a DETERMINING FACTOR that could
PREDICT FUTURE PERFORMANCE of an individual in
the field of work. An individual may spend a
significant period of time to complete it but once it
is finished it could provide opportunities for success
as long as there is determination and hard work.
WHO ARE THE PEOPLE WHO CAN HELP
DECIDE WHICH CAREER TO CHOOSE?

Family Teacher Counselor


Family

1. Family - Most of the time, our parents


already have an idea of what they want
for us to be in the future. This is the
source of inspiration and guidance for
most people. Family legacy is also an
important consideration.
Teachers

2. Teachers - The knowledge and


experience gained in school can
help make decisions. They can
serve as inspiration for students
Counselors

3. Counselor - This is the guidance


counselor at school. They can provide
Career Orientation Program which can
help students make a decision regarding
their career choice.

These theories have been made to explain how a person
chooses a particular field to pursue

Trait Factor

This theory is considered


the basis of many
Counseling about careers
and to develop aptitude
tests. Formulated during
the 1900s and the
proponents were Frank
Parson and E.G Williamson
Psychological
It was proposed by John
Holland. It is considered as the
succession of the Trait Factor
Theory as discussed In this
theory, six (6) personality
categories have been
identified. These are:
1. realistic
2. investigative
3. social
4. conventional
5. enterprising
6. artistic.
Decision
This theory is in line with
Albert Bandura's theory
about self-efficacy as the
predictor of behavior.
Bandura also believes that
self-efficacy is part of the
motivation. Self-efficacy
is the belief oneself that
he or one can do a
particular task.
Developmental (Life-Span/ Life-Space Theory)
The proponent of this
theory is Donald Super.
The idea of that
humans are constantly
experiencing new life
challenges and as people
undergo this
uncertainty in life, they
learn new things.
PECIFIC SMART GOALS

EASURABLE uses a specific set of


criteria to help ensure
TTAINABLE that objectives are
clearly defined and
EALISTIC attainable within a
certain timeframe.
IME-BOUND
PECIFIC
Your goal should be clear
and specific, otherwise,
you won't be able to
focus your efforts or feel
truly motivated to
achieve it.
EASURABLE

- It's important to have


measurable goals so that
you can track your
progress and stay
motivated.

TTAINABLE

Your goal also needs to


be realistic and
attainable to be
successful
EALISTIC

- This step is about


ensuring that your goal
matters to you and that
it also aligns with other
relevant goals.
IME-BOUND
Every goal needs a
target date so that
you have a deadline to
focus on and something
to work toward.

Step 1: Self-Awareness

- Recognizing your talent, abilities,


and interests can help define you as
an individual. Belief in oneself is also
important because this will serve as
a motivation to push forward.
Step 2: Choices

- These are the choices that


are made available for the
selection. In every decision that
one has to make, there would
always be options to choose
from.
Step 3: Suitability

- This is the awareness that one's


career choice fits one's personal
abilities, interests, values, and
needs. A mismatch should be
avoided because this will hinder the
person from achieving his goals.
Step 4: The Process

- These are the steps to take to


reach your goals. Mental
preparation and physical
preparation are important to
achieve the goals.
