– A metallically terminated circuit intended to carry
telecommunication signals for voice, data or other
communication. (excludes mains supply, CATV and
SELV)
– May be subjected to overvoltages due to atmospheric
discharges and power line failures

TNV CIRCUIT
CHARACTERISTICS

Equipment connected to North American telecommunication networks have specific


requirements for voltages present in TNV circuits. The following types of TNV circuits have
specified limits: (subclause 6.2.1.1).
1. TNV-1 circuits
2. TNV-2 circuits
3. TNV-3 circuits
