TIG uses argon, carbon dioxide and other inert welding shield gases which

can be
dangerous if they displace the oxygen in a confined space. ... Both are odorless
and tasteless gases. High levels of exposure can lead to dizziness and nausea
ultimately followed loss of consciousness, and death.

Inhalation of argon in excessive amounts can cause dizziness, nausea, vomiting,
loss of consciousness, and death. Death may result from errors in judgment,
confusion, or loss of consciousness that prevents self-rescue. At low oxygen
concentrations, unconsciousness and death may occur in seconds and without warning.

Argon Welding Safety

 Handling. Argon is transported in high-pressure tanks that can pose an explosion
danger. ...
 Asphyxiation. Inert gases such as argon are heavier than normal oxygen. ...
 Fire Safety. The argon gas stops oxidization at the site of the weld. ...
 Argon Leaks. Close the valve of the argon tank after each use. ...
 First Aid.

General Gas Welding Safety Tips

 Inspect equipment for leaks at all connections using approved leak-test solution.
 Inspect hoses for leaks and worn places.
 Replace bad hoses.
 Protect hoses and cylinders from sparks, flames, and hot metal.
 Use a flint lighter to ignite the flame.

How do you get argon out of your lungs?
Anyways, since Argon is a heavy gas and sits at the bottom of your lungs, doing a
handstand or tilting at an angle with your feet up might help move the Argon out of
your lungs faster.
Handling and Storage
Do not allow the temperature where cylinders are stored to exceed 125ºF (52ºC). Cylinders should be
stored upright and firmly secured to prevent falling or being knocked over.

Some additional guidelines include:

• Valve protection caps must remain in place unless container is secured with
valve protection outlet piped to use point.
• Do not drag, slide or roll cylinders. Use a suitable hand truck for cylinder
movement.
• Use a pressure reducing regulator when connecting cylinder to lower pressure
piping or systems.
• Do not heat cylinder by any means to increase the discharge rate of product
from the cylinder.
• Use a check valve or trap in the discharge line to prevent hazardous back flow
into the cylinder.
• Protect cylinders from physical damage.
• Do not insert any object (i.e.: screwdriver) into valve cap openings as this can
damage the valve causing leakage.
• Never carry a compressed gas cylinder or a container of a gas in cryogenic liquid
form in an enclosed space such as a car trunk, or van.
• A leak can result in asphyxiation or a toxic exposure
